You stumble upon a rather nice looking texture pack. You think it's so detailed that you cannot live without it. You download it.
You just downloaded a virus.
Before you download a Texture pack, ALWAYS check the comments OR look at the screenshots to see if it's fake. You can tell If it is fake or not if
1. The Screenshots looks simliar to other screenshots for different Texture Packs.
2. It just looks way too realistic.
3. If it contains no screenshots. Do not download.
4. If the download links contain Surveys, DO NOT DOWNLOAD.
5. Look at the name of the texture pack, Is there a 'Valid' name for it. e.g. 'My Texture' is a obvious scam.
6. If you are not sure if it's fake or not, keep your Internet Security up to date at all times.
The most obvious is if a survey must be completed first to download.
When you do the survey, you are giving away personal information to a 3rd party of which they can commit Idendity theft and spam your email by selling your email onto other 3rd parties.
Please be Careful of what you are downloading!
Do not jump to conclusions and think it is safe!
If you're one of the people who has downloaded one of these malicious texture packs, run a FULL system scan immediately.
And if you're one the many people who are constantly posting these FAKE Texture Packs, You will be banned from PMC. You have been warned.
