Welcome guys, Vesper here.
I am a french map maker who try to do the best of the Xbox map. I am the maker of a few maps which are now famous like "Plants vs Zombies" or "Cake Defense". I made this topic to try to help you guys to make some great maps. I'll talk about redstone, spawn, multiplayers and all that stuff. Just message me if you have any ideas of something that I could explain to you.
-Basic Tip 1: Spawn
When you want to start a new map, the spawn is very important. It gives your maps the first atmosphere.
We can not directly define our spawn as Minecraft PC. But 4JStudios give us a clue for doing it.
Create a new world (preferably flat) where you want to do your map. If you try to put lava where you just spawned, you'll see that you can't because you're in the spawn zone. I think you understand how to do now :].

You will now use this message to find the four ends of the square that defines the spawn and place blocks. The dimensions are 33x33 but reduce it to 21x21.

(You're almost done ! Now be sure that there are any blocks above the 21x21 zone, because if there are, the player will spawn on them !!)
