Personality: Chaos (a good summary of his personality would be “why not?”)

Universe explanation: BookWyrm lives in the very far future, where technology has practically no limit when it comes to physical enhancements, and computing has become compact and advanced enough that brain-to-computer interfaces are common, and most gaming is done through highly immersive simulations, far beyond even the most advanced VR technology. BookWyrm regularly participates in a unique, and highly illegal, form of these simulations, where multiple participants connect their minds to a “blank” simulation, where there’s nothing but a large map, not even physics. The participants can manipulate the simulation as they please, creating any object or creature they want, and altering physics to suit their needs, the last participant standing wins. The reason these fights are so illegal is because they interface with the brain incredibly closely, they can’t kill anyone, but the battles run as fast as the brain can think, so for those inside the battles can last for literal years, but in reality they rarely last more than 30 seconds. This effect can sometimes have highly damaging effects on participants after they exit, and sometimes even on viewers who connect their brains to process the battles as they happen.

Character explanation: BookWyrm, as he prefers to be called, is completely obsessed with efficiency and despises restrictions and limitations, having modified his physical body extensively for peak efficiency, he became addicted to illegal simulation battles, as it allows him to control everything around him and create and modify anything he wants with no limits, he quickly became one of the absolute best fighters, as he quickly adapts to nearly any situation and modifies everything around him, including himself, to take full advantage of the possibilities offered by an environment that can be manipulated into literally anything, often bending space around, creating horrifying creatures to mess with his opponents before tearing them apart.

Friends: literally himself, he made a copy of his consciousness via a company that will do that so your loved ones can visit it after you die, then he hacked into their database to steal it, made a few copies, and modified each one so they’re all slightly different from him and each other, built a PC for each one so they can have entertainment, and has all of their minds (including his own) connected on a closed quantum entanglement network so they can all talk whenever they want… he is literally friends with himself.
