Okay, this blog has been edited for two reasons: original research and completely wrong facts. I apologize greatly for giving the PMC community the wrong information. I will summarize the real facts and this time cite my sources. Let's go.
So sorry again for delivering completely wrong information. But we do learn from mistakes after all.
Selling Power
Since Nintendo is of Japanese origins, there are many limitations. One of them is selling power. Minecraft is quite a popular game, just not popular in the Eastern Countries like Japan. Not so fast! According to NintendoLife (http://www.nintendolife.com/news/2014/06/nintendo_open_to_minecraft_on_wii_u_and_3ds_and_expanding_its_popularity_in_japan), Minecraft could very well make it to Nintendo's release charts. According to Shigeru Miyamoto and Shinya Takahashi:
So I was right on the basis that Minecraft is not popular in the way it is in the US and Europe. That doesn't mean the sandbox game we all know and love doesn't have a chance to shine in Japan.
We've always thought internally that using the [Wii U] GamePad would probably make for a Minecraft that's very easy to play. And, of course, if we were to do something with Minecraft on the 3DS, similarly we would probably do it where it would be easier to play and could probably reach a lot of kids.
What's interesting is that, in Japan, Minecraft is not popular in the way it is in the U.S. and Europe, so we've also thought that, if we were able to do a partnership like that, it might bring opportunity to help make Minecraft more popular in Japan.
Minecraft in Japan, and Publishers
In fact, a majority of the Japanese probably don't even know what Minecraft is. That being said, there's no way that a Wii U or Nintendo 3DS port of the sandbox game we all know and love as Minecraft would make it to the release charts. And even though the creators of the PS Vita and PS4 (Sony) are Japanese, the truth is the PS4, PS3, and PS Vita ports of Minecraft were not actually made by Sony. Rather, it was Mojang (obviously) that created the game.Whoa whoa WHOA! I was WAY off on this one. Thanks to SkylerracerGT, I've gotten some helpful constructive criticism. This is what he had to say on this particular part of the flawed blog post:
Nintendo is not a DEVELOPER but a PUBLISHER. It is the same with Sony. Nintendo Facilitates what games get published. Likewise, Nintendo wouldn't stop minecraft from getting published. its up to the 3rd party (in this case, Mojang) to decide weather or not to use their resources to create the game on the 3ds/wiiU.He or she was right in this case. I mistakenly and indirectly called Sony and Nintendo "developers", when the truth is that they're "publishers". My bad.
Popularity in General and Competition
Furthermore, there are way too many video games for Minecraft to compete against. Couple it with the fact that Japan makes a majority of the popular games such as Pokemon, Mario, and Sonic the Hedgehog, and now Minecraft doesn't seem so popular.Once again, SkylerracerGT stated this on the flawed statement quoted above:
I have no other comment to make.
if that was the case then it wouldn't have made it past 2010.
This statement right here is the only thing in this blog that isn't opionated. but as time has proven before, just because a game is popular, doesn't mean it's always a great game.
So sorry again for delivering completely wrong information. But we do learn from mistakes after all.

"Minecraft is quite a popular game, just not popular in the Eastern Countries like Japan. In fact, a majority of the Japanese probably don't even know what Minecraft"
Can you prove that this is a fact? You didn't bring up anything that proves that this is a fact as you stated it to be.

Again how whould you know this?

So to wrap this all up, I'll put it short and sweet like this: It is up to Mojang themselves to decide weather or not they want to use their resources to develop the game on a said platform. With that being said, this blog is manily an opionated blog, presented as facts. but thats only my 2 cents on the matter.
