Today I would like to bring up an interesting question.
ANSWER THE FOLLOWING QUESTION IN THE COMMENTS:
If you build something in minecraft, do you legally own your build?

Now I know on Planet Minecraft you are not allowed to take people's creations and what not. However, if you create something in minecraft do you own it as intellectual property? For example, if you see a spawn on a server that you like, are you allowed to replicate the spawn or copy it closely? Also do you have to give builders credit on minecraft servers?
These are all important questions to consider before giving out downloads to what you build.
I do not think this is a matter that could be taken to court unless there are large sums of cash to be made. However, if you do believe someone has copied you very closely, do you have a right to take legal action? I do not want anybody to take my builds without giving me credit.
AGAIN PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK IN THE COMMENTS!
ALSO I PLAN TO MAKE ANOTHER BLOG ON HOW TO AVOID GETTING COPIED AND BUILDING IN GENERAL!
IF ANY OF THAT INTERESTS YOU PLEASE TELL ME AND FEEL FREE TO SUBSCRIBE IF YOU LIKE MY CONTENT! THANKS

Not really, Mojang can at anytime rip and takedown all Minecraft videos and fan websites such as these if they wanted. In reality anything you build belongs to them not to you. Even more so if you didn't pay for this game, a lot of people on this site alone who play Minecraft got the full version without purchase. If your really so curious I know a couple judges and law firms that I could talk to briefly about this subject.

technically yes, but you dont have copyright, however, you can get a creative commons licence on it if you dont want people copying it, creative commons is universally accepted as an alternative to copyright and is super simple to set up, you just have to put the appropriate licence somewhere on in your work, like on it pmc page or in a read-me that gets downloaded with the map.

If you're so afraid of people omgsteeling your cyber block creations, don't upload them on the internet

I see it as such. Unless specifically noted you are allowed to copy. For two reasons, One Minecraft maps are not meant to be sold, and as far as I know illegal to sell. (considering your selling a part of Minecraft itself) And Two: The work you created is a piece of art. People have been creating remakes of art since the dawn of time. Morally wrong yes, but legally wrong no. They have the right to copy your work, it's is your job to let it be known that they copied your work not the governments.

No, you don't have the right to take action. Everyone takes the risk of their creation getting copied when they build it. Just a fact. If it happens, it happens.

But let me ask you this: Should it be "ilegal" for people to steal your work?
