Hello everyone!
Maps, in Minecraft PC, have changed A LOT. First of all, in the early versions, you didn't have command blocks or many resources. So before, if you wanted to communicate a message, you would use signs (now you would probably do a tellraw, but signs are still used, but probably colored or retextured). Now we use MUCH MORE commands (almost all of the maps have at least one command), and texture packs (especially in horror maps, to make it extra terrifying: imagine, you skip the texture you need, and instead of a lump of scary goo, you see some water).
There isn't ANYTHING wrong with old maps, its just that OBVIOUSLY we play the newest and more detailed ones, and we use the latest version (now 1.9.2, which now all the maps are revolutionary with the 1.9 add on Elytra, which grated many maps to be made).
Also, a BIG difference between the old maps (until 1.7.10) and the new ones (1.8 and up) is that in the new ones they added ARMOR STANDS, that made possible with textures to look like players, or with commands. But in the older versions of the game, they didn't have armor stands, so they used traditionally a piece of wool, and on top a pumpkin with levers on 2 sides of the wool to make a person or character, but now we use the magic of armor stands or something with commands. An extremely unimportant and little problem with these new and epic maps (I'm talking about puzzle or adventure maps) is that you can't explore much: you have to stay in line with the game and not get side tracked, and if you try to get out of the area, there are probably barriers; in the olden days you could explore much more, with the lack of technology (no offense 1.7.10 and lower versions users) to prevent so. But one thing hasn't changed: mods. People use mods to terraform or make the map very often now and before.
ATTENTION!!!!! All these policies aren't referred to ALL the maps, just many of my experiences and what I noticed. Have any examples of extremely detailed maps ("today maps") and "primitive" (NO OFFENCE!) maps? Leave 'em down below.

Thanks for reading this article. Bye!!!!
