Sup doods, I have been playing a lot of minecraft recently and have been trying a new fighting technique that I'd like to share with you all. As many of you know, potions, when combined with gunpowder yield a splash potion. Now, these potions can either have positive or negative effects when throw, which makes them an ideal fighting item against a wide variety of enemies.

If you like playing in PVP servers, but always seem to be outplayed by a better equipped players, well do I have the solution for you. Playing as a "mage" or potion thrower, if you want to be specific, then you can easily defeat these fully diamond armor players in no time at all. If you are playing with a group of friends however be very careful not to harm your teammates as these potions are very powerful. When in a group I like to play more of a support mage, so no damage potions, only utility.

Anyways, now that I have given you a brief summary of how to be a "mage" in minecraft, let's get down to what I like to use as my equipment:

Potions:
Potion of Healing: These potions will keep your health bar full in combat.

Potion of Regeneration: An alternative to Potion of Healing, use this in place of, or in addition to them. I like these as splash so the whole team can benefit.

Potion of Strength: Great buff potion that ups your damage output. I like making this into a splash potion and buff my allies in battle.

Potion of Swiftness: Greatly increases your speed. Always have tehse on you as splash potions to help keep up with, or run away from an enemy.

Those are the Potions I like using when I am supporting my team, so I stick behind them and use the potions on my team. Let's move onto the combat potions.

Potion of Harming: Inflicts SIX damage to an enemy. SIX, if you have a handful of these, cities will crumble under your power.

Potion of Poison: Inflicts 1 damage a second. Make this into an extended potion of Poison for full effect. I like using these on the move, as it forces the enemy to use health items, giving me space.

Potion of Slowness: Slows the enemy to a crouch. These are amazing, always have these as extended to keep the enemy slowed for 3 minutes! Pair this with your Potions of Poison and harming to dominate crowds of enemies.

Potion of Weakness: This nerfs the attack damage of an opponent by 1. I don't really recommend these as they are not too useful, but I'm sure someone will find a use for them.

Okay, those are the potions that I use in my Mage build. Remember, potions do not stack, so choose the best combination of potions for full effect. Always have a sword on you for close range. Also there are some more things you can do to improve your mage build:

Fire aspect Bow: Sets enemies on fire when hit with an arrow. Use this as a sort of fireball spell

Dispenser/Firecharge Mortar: Fill a dispenser with Firecharges and fire them using a lever to launch explosives at an enemy position. I have only just messed with this idea.

There you have it folks, the begginers guide to becoming a Mage fighter in Minecraft! Also, having a silk touch pick and an ender chest on you can let you double your potion carrying capacity in battle. Be sure to experiment with this and have fun.
