A short list of things I think Minecraft really needs to focus on....

Now, before I get started, I know that there are hundreds of these floating around the internet.
I am posting here for personal reference and to see what everyone thinks.

With 1.9 out - There are a TON of new features to explore but I feel we missed the mark in a sense. A couple of things I think, probably should have been implemented almost back in minecraft 1.4.7. And this is to improve overall gameplay and address what the community uses minecraft for in a broad general context. Some of these issues HAVE ALREADY BEEN ADDRESSED.. but not to the extent I would liked to have seen while others, I can't even find a hint of a suggestion on google. I KNOW there are mods out for these, but what about vanilla gameplay....

Here is my list of things minecraft needs:



1. Faster vertical movement - (Remember water ladders or water elevators?)
Augmented Laddeds, Zip lines,Grappling hooks, or some kind of launcher.
Right now, you can zip back and forth horizontally with relative ease....
But if your going up... you're doing it slowly (and that's even in creative mode)


2. Better Ocean (Sea weed, coral, shark or alligator, SeaWeed )
Just an overall re-addressing of the ocean biome. I Sure there are water temples...but...THATS IT?


3. More Interior/Exterior Decor (Chairs, window shades, Light fixtures, Tables, Shelves, Cabinets, Mirrors, Couches)
Seriously, people have been making these in minecraft since its inception and yet its 2016 now...
You would think Mojang would get a hint.
I feel like this is LONG overdue.


4. A Mob that you actually have to hunt for... (difficult, like finding a cat... but... you eat it for yumm)
I hunt Ghasts for fun. I find it challenging enough to run through the nether with a bow-n-arrow looking for the buggers to put two between the eyes. But could we bring something like that to the overworld? Terrifying, rare, and super fun to look for. You could say ," what about the killer bunny" but its spawning rate is so low that I haven't meet anyone who's found it in the wild without literally spawning it in themselves. Nor does it drop anything worth hunting it for.


5. Make the fence posts directionally subjective like logs (For sideways bars and such)
1.9 gave us the ENDER ROD. But there should have been more of something like this.
Wood Rods... Stone Rods... See where I'm getting at?


6. FREAKING BIRDS!!! (Actually most of the mo creatures is awesome but birds just seem more practical)
They fly around... they're cute... and you could ACTUALLY give them purpose. They could drop feathers.
Just get rid of bats


7. Scrap items (A means to scrap items down to their lower equivilant.)
Furnaces give you 8 stone, , Hopper give you your iron back with a box... and so on... and so on
I cant count the amount of times I made too many of something and now I'm stuck with it until I actually need it later.
But It I just just scrap the excess, That would be awesome!
Seriously, I don't need all this leather armor... Why can't I just use it for leather books or something?


8. Better Map detail (More colors to reflect actual biomes and heights)
If you compare an in-game minecraft map to a modded map like say Zan's minimap
Its clear that biomes are not colored correctly and neither are some block variants.
This should have been fixed A LONG time ago


9. Backpacks... (or someway to augment the size of your inventory)
Currently, when I go adventuring, I carry an enderchest in my inventory.
I have to place it... put the stuff in/out, break it and then remake it...
But could't there be a better way?!


10. Ghost Mob (Semi-Rare, Almost completely invis, Floats through walls, Drains your life, Scares the crap out of you)
This is a pipe-dream. Totally a stretch to ask for something like this but it would be neat to see another "scary" mob that is unlike any of the others seen in minecraft. Kill it with spectral arrows or something. This suggestion could be shot down and I wouldn't mind. Just throwing it out there.


11. Painting Selector (Some way to cycle through for your desired painting)
This hilarious and rather annoying at times, hiccup has also been around since Minecrafts creation. The only way to get the right picture you want is to continually place, break, and replace a picture frame until you get the correct art. Wouldn't it be better if there was a way to scroll through to see and select the picture you want?

12. Custom Tools, Weapons, Armor ( Creation/Variations in general )
What about Obsidian Armor with and Emerald Sword? Or Blaze rods and a stick to make a flame pickaxe or sword? How about an Iron Bow? Or a Lapis Shovel? Or to be even broader: Knifes and daggers, Pikes and spears, Crossbows, Long swords, War Hammers and battle Axes.

13. The Aether (A Sky World)
Whats a better game to have something like a sky world in than Minecraft? Nintendo's Mario had the right idea, Everyone loves a good sky world. Its fun, dangerous, and challenging. I know that we have the End, but considering its infested with endermen and the scenery isn't really the prettiest, We're really lacking a nice biome like this to thrive in a vanilla minecraft game.
