Do you like Minecraft servers? Do you want to know more about them? Do you want to make them? Well, I am here to answer all your questions about multiplayer Minecraft! First of all, I will show you about the different kinds of Minecraft servers:

  • Vanilla Server. This type of server is an unmodofied server designed for players to play survival or just build on a survival server. These servers are the easiest to setup and run. They have a very simple GUI with a log, server players, and an input box for entering commands. This server can be downloaded from the official Minecraft website(minecraft.net).

  • Bukkit ServerA Bukkit server is an open source server project designed for modification with the use of a type of mod called a "plugin". These servers are a little more complicated to setup with the use of permissions and more advanced settings. These servers require high maintenence and knowledge of Minecraft and basics of the YAML programming language. This server has the potential to be customized with the use of "plugins", pemissions, and good management to fit many different server catergories.

  • Tekkit ServerTekkit is a customizable modpack for Minecraft that has been made into a server. These servers are also quite challenging to setup as well. This includes some of the most popular mods in Minecraft such as BuildCraft, Galacticraft, and many more. You can also download extra modpacks for your Tekkit server.

To setup a server, wether it's Vanilla, Tekkit, or Bukkit, you have to follow a similar set of steps. First of all, you download the server files and put them on your computer. Next, you run the files you get in the download. You configure all the server settings, then port forward Minecraft's  PF codes on your router and you are done! That is some basic information on the different types of Minecraft servers. If you are making one, then I wish you good luck!

*That was not meant to be a tutorial on how to setup a server. That was just telling you the basis of setup.
