My idea,
a magnet!
The magnet can pull you towards iron ore and gold ore, and their block forms.
When a metal is dropped, the metal will go towards you. A player can also hold the magnet on multiplayer and drag them towards a player with a metal in their inventory (trololol :D) The magnet's charge will be very low, and can be upgraded by trading with villagers.
Crafted like this:
I x I
RxR
RRR I = Iron R = Redstone x = Nothing
This could help finding ores, and would be handy for if you're in your inventory and your mouse glitches and throws your gold/iron out of your inv (happened to me before ._.) but you could have been holding the magnet, which would throw it right back to you.
