Minedea Contest

I have two main ideas for Minecraft. The first idea that I shall reveal unto you is, what I believe, a very important mob update. Currently, passive mobs will follow towards the highest light level, and during night time, they travel towards torches. I find this very annoying, as they all crowd towards a torch and sit by it. My idea is for their path of travel to be more random. What will this affect? Breeders. The path in which they will travel will be towards every part of their contained area instead of packed up in the middle or the edge. They will be more spread out. Additionally, this will affect food sources, and journeymen - at night. Though I cannot personally prove this - mobs will be more spread out during the night. Their path will most likely change from being around your house to being spread out and just roaming the area - the way it should be. One more addition, I believe passive mobs should spawn should a torch be placed, and they should spawn around that torch during the night. This will affect food sources once again, and it will make for a high advantage. This used to be a feature back in Beta 1.2 if I'm not correct.
My other idea is more game changing. I've got this idea as another source of "redstone" only it's not redstone. The idea involves another ore - Quartz. Read more - www.ehow.com/how_6729045_use-crystals-generate-electricity.html However, instead of directly using all those tools - You'll place it down like redstone. The idea of this is to power things that Redstone normally would not power, things with electricity! i.e. A lamp, lights, and maybe even a TV. While I do not agree with the use of a TV, the possibilities with a usage of electricity is highly ranged. More advanced parkour maps will be made possible, more amazing adventure maps as well as maps in general and possibly mods, will be made! This will make another ore- which we all love - as well as a multipurpose ore at that!
