If you wondering about how spiders get in your base it is actually because spider can climb bricks in order to keep this from happening add blocks to make a over hang on your wall to prevent this from happening. If you find diamonds make sure to dig around it in order to keep lava from melting it or to see if there is lava. If you have a base in nether dont waste time to make ghast proof walls out of obsidian just use stone and glass as long there is a brick between you and the ghast your safe.
