this is a debate whether mineshafter is legal or not.
I wish I could give you a definat answer, but the MC forums are down, and I can't tell exactly what it does.
However, it appears that is is a server hosting thing for MC, so if you have a MC Alpha/Beta account and use it on that site to play MC. It's not pirating, because you already have to pay for an MC account, and it's not illegal.
But Like I said, I'm not 100% sure because the MC forums are down.
