The reason why we only have Skin/map/blog contests is because they are the easiest to make, everyone can enter. Not like mods, or resource packs where you have to know how to code or how to navigate the resource pack and how to make it. But the reason why blog contests haven't been so frequent is (I think at least) it is harder for the guys making the competitions to find topics to blog on that are Minecraft related, Mindeas, done, minetorials done, now what other things could you think of which people could actually put a decent blog out about which is Minecraft related.

I agree with your point of textures and resource folders but believe that PMC can make some titles for blogs.

It doesn't have to be too wide and obvious but can be like a Minecraft Trivia, you get the point.

You can't exactly write a nice blog about Minecraft Trivia. When you look at the winners of the previous one they have been very long, very in-depth and very unique. With trivia there is only so far you can go, you can't be unique nor can you make a true length blog, which is what the winning blogs are, something which is about half a dozen to a dozen well written long paragraphs.

Texture/resource packs take many ages to create, and a million years to judge, so don't expect one soon. A blog contest however should be soon IMO.
