I've had a lot of experience with Minecraft for a while now. I go on many different sites or watch YT videos and see what people believe about the game and it's lore. Something that really bothers me is how a lot of people portray the Nether. The Nether is probably my favorite part of Minecraft because it's a cool theme and a very challenging environment. Almost everywhere I go for Minecraft content, people would talk about the Nether as "hell" and go there only for its resources. Don't get me wrong, I love grabbing its resources, not to mention it has some of my favorite mobs in the game of which my personal skin is based off of. The problem I have is how the majority of people who enter ONLY for its resources overlook how useful the dimension itself actually is. Let me just get this started.
First of all, I don't look at the Nether as being "Hell". Now, I can easily understand why so many people think of it that way, as it's covered in fire and lava. I should also put out how the actual biome name for the Nether is "hell". In my personal opinion, I don't believe Hell is covered in fire and flames. I picture Hell as being more like a cold, dark, morbid wasteland. But aside from that, The Nether isn't hell, and it wasn't supposed to be. The idea for it came from the novel The Wheel Of Time, which I'll get into in a bit. I just don't think people should think of the Nether as Hell, because it's not, and I'll explain that next.
Ironically, the reason the Nether is not Hell is the SAME reason why people go there: Its resources. most of what you find in the Nether is not what you find in Hell. I'd honestly be really surprised if I found a blaze in Hell. But anyway, almost everyone goes to the Nether for the fortresses and mobs, including me. What I don't like is that the Nether is mostly, not completely, only known for it's resources and dangers. Possibly less that half of all Minecraft players know and use the Nether for it's incredible overworld traveling properties. As mentioned earlier, the idea for the Nether came from The Wheel Of Time, in which there was a realm in the novel called "The Ways", where you could travel someplace in the span of days instead of weeks, but like the Nether, it was very hazardous. For those reading this who don't know, traveling one block in the Nether is equal to traveling eight blocks in the overworld, which is why it's so useful for travel as you can build multiple portals to get to far away places in your world faster. THIS is what I think the Nether should be equally known for along with its resources, and that it should be known NOT as Hell, but its very own fictional dimension.
Thanks for reading, even though this was probably the worst article you've ever read and probably want to hate on my opinions. 10 diamonds and I'll give you all a bag of 64 Netherrack.

From my believes, hell is more like a place where people are tortured for all eternity through flames that surpass the heat of the sun in it's entirety, food that would kill people in mortal life, creatures that will infinitely rip your flesh and use you as an everlasting food source, and demons who would laugh and mock you for phycological torture. Also the thing that makes hell eternal torture, is the fact that all your wounds heal (Physical Wounds), but the regeneration process hurts you especially if something got caught in your wounds. And the heat makes it worse.
