My apologies for not using images within the blog, as the system for adding images is simply too complicated for me. I otherwise would've added them.
Due to my increased boredom of Minecraft, after I defeated the Ender Dragon for the first time, I wanted the developers to add and change content to the game in order to force the player to do actions they wouldn't normally do in survival. Nowadays, they're just adding building blocks and nothing special, nothing I would need in a normal Minecraft playthrough. Think about it, I've never needed to use redstone in a playthrough of the game, making the resource useless, so there needs to be something in the game that would make it important to use.
LORE
I came up with some new lore of the game, telling the story of the villagers' first successful attempt at getting to a world called the "Endimension", where they failed to defeat a beast known as the Ender Dragon, and left the stronghold abandoned. Random endermen who entered the overworld took the eyes of ender from the portal to keep their homeworld safe until each one eventually met a tragic demise in various different ways. The player's goal is to collect each of the 12 eyes of ender and bring them back to the stronghold, where you will help the villagers gain vengeance on the Ender Dragon.
GAMEPLAY
These changes should turn Minecraft into a controlled adventure. Each of the eyes of ender are scattered in different locations, biomes, and dimensions, where the player must venture to each one and often defeat powerful bosses to collect the eyes that they have taken. To make the general gameplay more challenging and interesting, new mechanics would be added, especially revolving around dual wielding. Additionally, several new mobs would be added, each with their own abilities to exploit specific weaknesses in the player or their bases. All these features would actively increase playtime in singleplayer and would give the player lots of things to do during the game.
But you still might ask... What could these mobs and mechanics possibly do that would influence more sophisticated actions?
Here are some examples of scenarios and mechanics in which preparation and tactics would be important:
- Certain mobs would have abilities that involve breaking and even opening doors. Such an advantage would encourage a player to build a redstone door instead when they acquire the resources, of course.
- Since ladders require two hands, the player can't be holding anything in their hands if they want to climb a ladder, otherwise, it wouldn't work.
- A few bosses would have projectile attacks so strong that even a shield can't block damage from them. The only option the player would have in order to play safe is to build a temporary wall with blocks between them and the boss.
- The flint and steal would no longer be a single item. Instead, the player can create fire on top of blocks by holding a flint in one hand, and an iron ingot in the other. Additionally, they can set mobs on fire simply by right clicking on them. Fire charges would also be thrown like blaze charges instead of just being an alternate fire starter.
- One of the new dimensions would contain a common enemy that can clip through blocks, encouraging the player not to build a base there.
- Since many bosses will be buffed, especially the Ender Dragon, even diamond armor simply wouldn't be enough. Powerful materials from new ore will be in the player's favor unless they want bragging rights on YT.
- The player would have no option but to find the bosses and kill them, as it would be the only way to progress the game and get to the Endimesion. Players should have no reason to avoid them altogether.
If these changes were ever made, maybe I could finally enjoy singleplayer again.
