I was trying to think of an idea of how to decorate a nether portal, and I came across something on a forum that inspired me to make this. I couldn't really see their design very well, so this is pretty much from scratch (minus the idea of an arch). I used a lot of turned stairs and slabs to give it a more balanced look.
