The New Section:

PMC is soon to have a brand new section that is generated all around helping others.

This section will be in a blog format, however there will be a twist to it that makes it completely different from blogs.

In this section as I mentioned, will be blogs that consist of helping others learn various things about Minecraft related things and non-Minecraft related things. However no one can just post like they can on blogs. In this section you have to be white-listed to be able to post helpful things for others to read and comment on. To be chosen you have to be able to do some things first.

First off, you have to be active in the 'Blogs' section of the site. You need to write good lengthy blogs that are used to help people or just entertain them. That doesn't mean posting a blog that is under 300 characters for all good blogs are at least 300 characters. If you prove that you are active and can write good blogs, that will definitely increase your chances in being white-listed to be able to write in this new section.

Second, like I said before, your blogs need to be at least 300 characters long. I cannot stress that enough. Even though it is not an official rule of writing blogs, a good blog always has a minimum set of 300 words. If it has somewhere less than that, it is just considered a paragraph that shouldn't be in the blog section but instead it should be in the forums.

What This Section Will Do:

This section will greatly help PMC in a couple of ways.

The first way being that many people will be encouraged to write great blogs and the blog section should spark up and the quality should increase to a much higher standard. This will really motivate people to write great blogs and get chosen to be a writer for this new section that will soon come.

Another way that this section will help is that people will understand many new topics. They will receive help from other individuals and with that knowledge they can create their own skin, texture pack, project or whatever they were learning how to do. It will improve the entire quality of PMC and will encourage users to upload submissions that other people will enjoy.

Section Details:

The name of this section is still undecided and the time Cyprezz plans to implement it is also undecided. I wrote this blog for all of you to start getting ready to write blogs as we will be picking users to write and help out the new section once it arrives.

Other than that, hope you found this information useful and go and write some blogs!

would this blog be enough to get me whitelisted? i plan on doing a similar one but for skins in the future, as well as possible blogs on making machinimas/trailers in minecraft.

There is only one problem i see with this.

A lot of great texture pack makers, skinners , mod makers etc are not bloggers

How can you expect everyone to be able to help if they need to make lots of blogs first. If someone needs help with a skin i've always been happy to help and get pm's with problems and questions and answer them all. I'm not a blogger and am not about to become one, but if there was something relevant i could share to help out then i would be unable to do so unless i was a moderator or a frequent blogger.

perhaps what you need is another feature whereby you could submit a 'blog' or guide which could be added without the need to be white-listed. That way if there was an expert in servers, projects etc who had some really helpful advice, they could provide that advice without having to blog first.

An example would be i would submit my guide on how to resolve 'transparency' issues. It could help a fair amount of people as i get pm's about it. But they wouldn't be able to see it since i wouldn't be white-listed.

That is a very good point, as I too, am a texturer, skinner, etc.

Oh well, I guess. Whatever happens, happens.

I do not have many Blogs, but you could call this section:
.The assistance Section
.Help Section
.Helpful Blogs
.Inspiration Section (Due to you saying it will 'spark up' people to write helpful Blogs)

The few that I did I feel are pretty good, there was one that probably could of been a fourm post, but still. They did get spotlighted a few times if that says anything

So basically this new section is going to be like the blog categories "tutorials" and "articles," just limited to more thought-out bloggers and about non-MC topics? What exactly is the point of this, and what sparked the idea?

The point of this is to help out users that want to get better at skinning, or learning the basics of port forwarding and installing plugins to their server etc. The topics aren't all non-MC related, most of them will be related to MC but people can post other topics that will interest other users that don't want to play MC anymore. If only a couple of users are able to post these blogs in the new section that will insure that the blogs will be of high quality and users will truly learn from it. It will also spark up the blog section and hopefully make the blogs less crappier.

so, say i wanted to post a basic tutorial on how to set up the mod making software and how to make a basic mod, i could post it there instead of the forums, a lot more views then i would if i posted it on the forums? because i have been wanting to post a modding tutorial for quite a while, seeing as there was no tutorial for when i wanted to start modding, so i had to figure most of it out on my own, and i think many people would benifit from it, but i dont want to post it on the forums as not many users of pmc go on the forums. i am glad that this is being added onto pmc, and i am soo glad that it is going to be whitelisted so people cant post things like "tO make a Houze you put wooden blocks ina square and put summing on top it and i need 200 chars so kdausdamsud" because those type's of blogs are pointless and would be even more pointless in a tutorial. and i have lost my track of thought now so i will stop typing and wish you all a good day/night depending on where you live :D
