Chapter 1
It just came out. The first VRFPS. I couldn't believe this day has finally come. I thought to myself "Is this really possible?" It was. I was going to be one of the ones who was going to buy,"The Holy Gun". I ran to the store as fast as I could to get one. It was almost the midnight release. There was already a line. I stood for about 3 hours till I got to the register. "Hi how may I help you?" The guy at the register asked.
"Can I have a copy of The Holy Gun"
"Why certainly"
He handed me the game. It had a guy holding what looked like to be a heavy machine gun in his hand. I grabbed the game and started running back home. It was really cold outside and I was only wearing a T-shirt and some shorts. I was too excited to worry about the cold. I immediately put the game in the VXR. That was the device that created the VR around you. Virtual X Reality. It looked almost like a suit. It has a signal coming to and from your brain to work. It made sure that you could in no way move your body in the outside world. It thing came up with a log in screen, in which you had to type your username and password. How do you do that? Simple, you think it.
In the game it keeps all 5 of your senses except pain. When I entered I was in a small field. I am usually a solo player and do not have many friends. I am 19. I currently live with my parents in an apartment. They are out though and will not be back for a year or 2. Wait... I am in a field? "Hey what's going on" A guy had said as he just logged on. "I don't have a gun or anything... where's the main menu? Is this some kind of joke?" I just thought about it, there wasn't a main screen. We just immediately entered the world. The air felt great. I guess it would be an estimate of 70 degrees Fahrenheit. It was nice to feel the warm sun and the slight breeze they had transmitting. This was all a virtual world but it was so beautiful. The grass and the trees in the distance. They all seemed real. Then I noticed something. There was only one world. One giant world. There was a town in the distance. I decided to start heading over there when all of a sudden, something appeared in the sky. "What is this?" I spoke to myself. Some one must of heard me and replied "That is one of the admins of the game. They probably have a welcoming message for us." I was glad. "Attention all players" his voice boomed across the land, "Welcome and thank you for buying my game. You will be put in to 2 different teams. The teams will be decided by the color of the starter armor you are wearing. We have blue team and red team. The winner of the battle gets to log off and leave the game..." I quickly opened my menu and saw that I could not log out. "..The battle starts in 3 days. You all have starting gold, so go to the center town and buy the materials while you still can. As for shelter, that you will have to built or find on your own..." Could he be serious about this? There were 500,000 copies of this game sold. "... If you die here you will die in life. You only have 1 life. The winning team will be able to log off and go back to the real world. This means to win, you have to kill all of the other players. That or capture their flag, but either way, they still die." I could not believe this. Could this really be happening. No, this was impossible, or was it.
