Hello PMC! This will be a tutorial for all you [MAC] users on how to install Optifine on the new launcher.

Downloads: Go to the optifine downloads page. When you have arrived on the site, download the newest version or whichever one you wish to download (make sure it is for 1.6.2 though). You will then be taken to a adfly site wait for the five second add look on the top right of your screen and click skip ad. This should take you to yet another downloads site. Click the link highlighted in blue between all the adds. Once it has downloaded you will need to get a coding document which you can download here.

Creating: Now that you have downloaded the following you need to take each downloaded file and drag them to your desktop. Your optifine download should be a .jar file, you need to click on it once and press enter, delete .jar and replace it with .zip. Now double click the .zip file (or right click and do open with Archive Utility). This should create a folder. Leave this alone for now. Now we need to go into your minecraft file. You can access this by going to Finder->Library->Application Support->Minecraft. Now look for the versions file under minecraft. Open it and you should have a folder that says 1.6.2. You need to make another one (right click and click copy, then right click inside the version folder and then right click->paste). Once this is completed rename your new file to whatever you want (ex. 1.6.2OF) make sure to leave 1.6.2 in the name. Now open the new copy of 1.6.2 and there should be two documents inside it. One should be .jar and one should be .json. rename each one (ex. 1.6.2OF.jar and 1.6.2OF.son). Now what you need to do is open up your .json file with textedit. You will want to change the id to OF or whatever you named it (ex. id "1.6.2OF").

Coding: Go ahead and open two things 1. Terminal 2. The optifine codes that you downloaded. Now copy your first code and paste it into terminal (not the library one it is pretty much the second code) then press enter. Go to your finder and go to your main folder (the icon with a house) and a mctmp folder should appear. Now go to your optifine folder and put all the stuff into the optifine folder into the mctmp folder. Now go back to terminal and copy and paste the last code in the document. The mctmp folder should disappear.

Finished: Now close everything and enjoy Optifine 1.6.2!
