As we all know, popularity is good and what we all strive for. First of all I am guilty, I wanted to be famous on PMC, but as I started to advance, I realized that popularity is not what it's all about. I think its about having fun, and a place for us to share and view others' work.

How Popularity is a Good Thing:

Popularity could be a angel for some of you who's dream it is to be known on PMC. Popularity would be a good thing for some of you who would like to get some things viewed, not by 3 people, but by maybe 10. Another thing popularity can be good for is getting more experience. Popularity is also good for those of you who look up to certain popular members and hope to be like them someday.Then you get a lot of subscribers,favorites,diamonds,downloads, and views on your work, and nice feedback and the good feeling of "They like me!". Although, it isn't all about diamonds and downloads and subscribers. Its a website for sharing your work and viewing others', and to have fun, to lighten up if your one of those stuffy folks, and to just hang out, I guess you could say.

How Popularity is a Bad Thing:

This is basically the main point. It is a devil because you will get haters. Haters will basically follow you around. They comment rude things on your submissions, they say bad things about you behind your back, they gossip about you, the list just goes on and on. If your having trouble with haters I suggest adding them to your ignore list and ignoring the gossip, if its anywhere you can flag it, I would flag it.Eventually they will leave you alone.
Another reason why popularity is a devil is because you will get 'robbers'. They steal your skins, they steal your blogs, they steal your projects, they just steal everything. You can flag it, but they just won't stop. If they get banned or get their uploading powers removed, they just go to another site like Skindex and put it there. Another reason why stealing is bad is because some people think they originally made it and then go give them the respect you deserve, and then eventually they find your stuff and flag it thinking it is stolen. Popularity can be annoying because even if you put all in red, giant, capital, bold, underlined letters: I do NOT currently take requests, or anything like it, they still give you requests, then you have to go through the trouble of telling them you don't do requests at the moment, which will be annoying if there is a large amount of this. The people that diamond,favorite, and download EVERYTHING. They just find your work, and download it, diamond it, and favorite it. Then they comment things they might just copy+paste from someone else's comment, or a comment they posted, things like "OMG SO KAWAII DESU!!11!!!111" can be annoying, then if you want to show some courtesy you have to reply saying stuff like "Thanks! :)". Basically if you haven't seen the comment before or don't have it 10 times on your work, its not copy+pasted. Nextly, the famous Pop Reel.Popular people that can shade, hue shift, and all that cool stuff, and they make original skins. They get the pop reel a lot. Then again, if you just make a mainstream and un-original skin, you can get it also, but that will attract haters. The main point is, if you make original skins with shading and hue shift, you get pop reel. If you make a terribly shaded, un-original, and mainstream skin, you will get pop reel and haters. Lastly, if you are popular, like you just got popular, the power might go to your head. You think, if I am popular, then surely I can be a ruler of PMC! Well, thats not true. You don't get the power to boss everyone around, you don't get the power to be a jerk and get away with it, and you don't get a crown or a scepter. You just are known around Planetminecraft, you would get probably a sizable amount of new subscribers and diamonds and nice comments every few hours or so, and you would get haters. Well I already talked about haters before so you know about it, and if you don't remember that part then I would go through the part about popularity being bad.That's it for why popularity would be a bad thing for now!
