Private Server Creation

Any of you guys wondered why we can't create private multiplayer servers (ie. you and your friends) just by selecting a simple button like "create new server." Think about it. that might be something for any updates in the near future. Think of it this way: do you like spending your time playing Minecraft or spending it by getting the software to make a server, then making one, then publishing it, and finally (after all that time) playing it? Please reply.
