What is the common issue with staff selecting?
Most people don't understand that a lot of the people that apply for staff on server tend to lie, I'm not saying everyone does theirs actually truthful people out that that are worthy of staff positions but never get the chance because a poor staff member is selected because their lies made their application seem better.
How can you tell if their truthful or not?
Make them prove it! that's a big one people over look. They think what they say is truthful but if you ask them to prove experience and they can't, their obviously not being fully truthful with you.
Another way is to question or quiz them. If they claim their experienced with like pex or group manager give them a short time to post a comment on a thread showing how a basic rank is setup with 3 permissions set, prefix, colors, or anything else you think is right, you can even make them have to make it specific to a set guideline. If they are able to do that it prove their experience. Similar test can be done with any plugin though.
Signs showing their not right for staff.
1. Begging: If they come on your server begging for a staff rank they are clearly not right for the job. Make them apply on a website or forum. If they don't want to take the time to register and apply they don't deserve staff on your server.
2. Abuse: If you do give them a rank and they use their abilities incorrectly, or poorly they could be a risk to your server. An abusive staff member can crash server, Make players leave, Improperly enforce rules, or even turn against your server.
3. Overly Trying: If they are they join and ask to anything to help and everything, or claim they can do more then other staff they could be a risk, They arn't always a risk at times even helpful but at times they can get annoying or make other staff upset causing an angered community or too competitive.
Their are more signs but these are fairly common.
Why should i trust you?
I have been in every position Owner, staff, the players, and others. I have seen the effects of poor staff and the issues they can be to a server and if i can help server owners become more experience in staff selection it can and will make their server safer. Their is much more to staff selection at times but these are the most basic that isn't complicated to do or even take long, but their little effort to make goes a long way. Poor staff can still slip through over time or even staff can grow poorer over time but its rather rare.
