Hello, Sir_Quesaritto here. I wanted to talk to you about an idea I have for a mod.
This mod will add some big things, and some smalls things that make the terrain and feel of Minecraft I think more appealing, and believe it or not, its starts with dirt.

Just click on the "+" Sign for the spoilers to reveal certain sections of the blog... There's a lot!

Realistic Dirt Layers

In real life, dirt is actually not just dirt, then rock, its separated into what's called "Horizons"

actiOxA

Use the Image above for the definitions I will list below:

Topsoil: Also called the "A Horizon" This Contains lots of minerals and dead organisms and plants that are actually what make up all dirt... Ever. It's actually mostly weathered Parent rock ( Bedrock ) and dead animals that decomposed ( Gross right? )

Horizons: These "Horizons" are the layers of the overall soil "Profile" which just means all of the soil as a whole. There is The A horizon, the B horizon, and the C Horizon. These all form because the soil that we have today ( In MC or IRL ) was Generated over thousands of years ( Or in MC terms, depending on the speed of your computer, a few seconds ). Slowly, over that time, the bedrock below the Soil is slowly weathered away until it becomes soil as well. This is such that it makes the dirt separated into bands that are visible if you are digging into the ground.
A Horizon: Soft soil, good nutrients for plants and all that jazz
B Horizon: Some weathered rock fragments, roots from trees will make it down this far. Harder Soil, larger pieces of soil that aren't as soft, and not as weathered as the horizon above
C Horizon: A lot more rocks fragments, not fully bedrock, but some dirt, and some Rock, lets say 60% rock 40% dirt, this is what separates it from the B horizon, it shows your close to bedrock

Bedrock ( Parent Rock ): This isn't ACTUAL Minecraft bedrock, the unbreakable stuff that prevents you from falling into the void, this is actually just normal stone, that stuff you mine with a pick Axe. It's non-weathered rock, no dirt.

So, in conclusion for this first part of my idea for this mod, I suggest adding some way to keep dirt, dirt, it won't need to add any specific "B or C horizon blocks" But it would create a change in darker color, or a color change in general when you are digging down into the dirt, A smooth change, such as when you are moving from a swamp biome to a Desert biome, you can obviously see the change in the grass color.

Also, when you are in the C horizon, there should be a 60% percent change of getting rock, and 40% Change of getting dirt, so there should be a special "Stone-Dirt" Hybrid for that.

Amazing Caves

Minecraft has ALOT of caves, if you dug a hole straight down, there is a extremely high chance that you're gonna get into a cave. But all these caves are are just boring tunnels through the ground, what I would like to add, is some variety to cave generation!

Caves That correspond to biomes

Another biome based generation thing, I know, but this will add some more variety to the biomes, and really make the underground POP!

Glacier Caves:

Glacier caves usually occur in ice or under glaciers and are formed by the melting of them. They are also influenced by the very slow flow of the ice, which tends to close the caves again. These can also be called "Ice Caves" Although the name doesn't matter :P

These caves, as you can probably guess, would generate in snow biomes, mostly around glaciers ( See biome features section ) They would have snow blocks around them and lots of ice on the inside, to get the feel going, ya know? :)

Solutional cave:

This type of cave is the most common type of cave that forms IRL, but it isn't always that same random generation that minecraft likes to do, it has much more different features to it!

Here are some features that I think should be associated with this type of cave:

Stalactite: It's a type of spiky rock that forms from water carrying materials down and to the tip of it, think: Icicle formation, but over a much longer period of time.

Stalagmite: The opposite Of a Stalactite, its a spike facing the ceiling, these rock formations, could be made either limestone ( see " New minerals" Section ) or rock, depending on what the mod makers choice is :)

Heres what It could look like, maybe even bigger and longer, depending on the cave!

...Imagine this bigger

...But what I mean is VERY BIG caves that have the two features above have, and maybe bigger lava flows.

That about it for caves! :)

Colored Glass and Mosaics!

Next up in this minedeas post I have an idea that will help with creating awesome looking cathedrals and such that can help a builder, and I would like to be implemented into Minecraft!

Colored Glass
-------------------
I know this is a thing that shows up in a lot of mods, but let me explain what will make it better, if it was even implemented into Minecraft!
- Colored glass can bring different feeling to building, such as black tinted glass can be used to make a dark room ( if you wanted to make a photographers office in maybe an adventure map! )
- You can use it to arrange it in cathedral like structure to add a sort of ambiance to the setting, which I will get into right now!
Mosaics using colored glass
-------------------------------------
The Mosaics that I am talking about would be able to be arranged in a certain way to then have a picture go on the glass

Imagine how you would arrange say a snow golem or an iron golem, and it turns into a mob, well take that, and arrange colored glass, to get a painting that looks like a mosaic in the color of the glass you used! A mosaic that has things in minecraft

Replace the colored wool with colored glass mentally, and the paintings be the painting that would be the mosaic

It can come out to different Mosaics depending on what arrangement you use

Biome Features

I will continue to build up this minedeas post, it all comes up to terrain and biome and building additions :)
Diamond if you like it! :)
