Since the beginning of spring this year, we've noticed a bit of a boost in activity and interest in this project, and we figure now is a good time for an update on what's going on behind the scenes. Before we get into anything, I'd like to plainly state that Antiqua Italia is NOT cancelled and that we are still working on projects under the Antiqua umbrella. With that out of the way, let's get into the details.
Despite the interest people have shown in our Capua project, we've found it utterly impossible to bring on additional builders. We've had some significant help from within our community, but it's become evident to us that we aren't going to be able to rely on finding permanent build team members for the foreseeable future. Knowing this, we've decided to temporarily step back and reassess our situation here. The progress we've made with Capua since the beginning is immense, and we certainly intend on completing it at some point, but with our build team only consisting of two people, and with real life responsibilities shrinking our free time, it's falling into development hell. What this means for the project is that we will likely be reassessing our ideas and moving our setting to a smaller, more practical location for us to create. We've got some solid candidates on the board, and with the large volume of buildings and ideas created for Capua available to be repurposed, things can come together much more smoothly.
With all of that out of the way, we've got some important news regarding what we are currently working on. With any sort of true release of our Antiqua Italia server looking to be a ways out from now, we are currently considering releasing smaller side projects with a reduced scope and more reasonable ambitions which may or may not turn into servers depending on how interested in the setting we find ourselves. We might also release some fully built-up map projects for anyone to use as they wish, whether it be for servers, for adventure maps, for youtube videos, or anything in between. We also have some ideas for an interesting PvP gamemode which can feature any number of historical settings. Our goal with the Antiqua idea overall is to generate a community interest in history, and we encourage anyone who wishes to create content relating to Antiquity to reach out to us if they need building tips, ideas, and general pointers. We are also open to collaborative efforts, as the Antiqua umbrella is plenty wide for others to step in if they desire.
We hope that this announcement is well received by the community, as we feel that the hype we've built up for Italia surpasses what we can realistically deliver within a reasonable timeframe. We want Italia to be the best it can be, however long it takes, which is the reason for our silence lately regarding the project. Hopefully within the coming months we will have some side projects to release for everyone. Also, we still keep whitelist applications for Italia and process new ones, albeit at a slower pace, so there's no need to worry about losing your submitted backstory and character details. We will be answering any questions you might have regarding this announcement both on our forum and on our PlanetMinecraft page for this announcement, so feel free to ask us anything. Have a great summer, and you'll hopefully be hearing more from us very soon.
