Ruby? in minecraft?

When messing with my items png file , i had found this , it looks like a ruby , when i look at TMI in-game i don't see it. Hopefully some useful plans about this item , it is not implemented in minecraft yet , but probably in 1.4!

Here is the ruby in the english lang file used with notepad++

The texture still exists in 1.12.2!

But why keep the texture in the file if it dosnt do anything?

This is the original texture for emeralds before the release. It's nothing new.

Yeah, there was also a ruby ore and gem texture. The ruby ore was actually released as emerald ore in one of the snapshots.
I don't think they'll be adding rubies yet, but I sure hope they do. What could be a good use for them though?
