Chapter 5: Sands of Time
What was a dream and what wasn't? That hallucination with a king from the 3rd essence was just a dreamy mirage, but the time travel was real, believe it or not. The sand was visible... again. Did the timeshift not work? At least there are clear skies. Nearby village as dull as always: housing cubes, few houses, a well, some farms and the only interesting thing there: the blacksmith. As empty as the villages were, there was only ONE villager here. Where did everyone go? Ender Sparkle wanted to ask that villager just that.
- Uh... Hello?
- (Villager) Hmm?
- Do you know... well, where is the rest of the village?
- (Villager) Hrrn't hundersthrrnd whrrnt hu'rm hrmkhm akhnrrt.
- Ah, yes. Villager dialect. And it's ancient, so it's even less understandable. I'll give it a try, even though I sure will fail at showing what I want to achieve. *ekhem* Whrr hmz thr hrst hrf thyr fhyrrhygh? (Did I say that good? I just want to get the essence and leave...)
- (Villager) Thr uthrrnz? Hrrskhrrpd fhrrm thr fvyrrhygh bkhrrm hrf thr khyrz.
- Uhh, what?
The villager "pointed" at a giant pyramid in the distance, and started incomprehensibly babbling again:
- Hrrnf fhrrn, nhrn Hrnhrbhrnz m'hrnyrn.
- Wait, who's "Harhurb'Heez" you're talking about?
But the villager wasn't there anymore. And what was the "khyrz" or any words said by the villager? There were so many questions, but not that much time to answer them. Wither King could find a key to space and time domination at any moment.The only choice was to go to the pyramid. And it wasn't just a normal desert temple which also had 2 towers with the "Ernkhrm" symbol. The pyramid was so big that it was hard to believe it was built by villagers. It was a symmetrical from 8 sides, built from 5x5 cubes, and the insides were literally carved in that pyramid-shaped pile. There were 2 guards made of obsidian and gold, with the gold parts being mostly armor.. Both statues had "ears", but it was hard to estimate if these were jackals or Ender Dragons (E.S. found that similarity uncanny). On approach, they spoke:
- (Statues) Khaaa... You... similar...
- ...Huh?
- (Statues) Weird... Clothing odd, but look nice. You one of usssss....?
- Uhh.... Yeahh... (I hope they believe in my lie. I need that essence! To restore fully the reactor, because those peons from medieval times destroyed it...)
- (Statues) We don't remember our looks anymore... Look like our imagination of our past... Get in. Do not mess with Pharaoh, thougkh....
And so, Ender Sparkle entered the pyramid, and it was as big as it seemed on the outside. Pretty much the dream of an Indiana Jones© director. After hours of fining the way to the center, E.S. stumbled upon the biggest room of all: Many treasure chests, obsidian-gold guards and, of course, a gold coffin wrapped in a red carpet. As soon as Ender Sparkle approached the coffin, it uncovered and opened, revealing a husk in golden armor. It was him, the Pharaoh himself.
- (Pharaoh) Who dares to interrupt my slumber? If you are unworthy, thou shall be cursed forever and ever!
- I am Ender Sparkle, the almighty (will this adjective work?) Ender Dragon, who seeks a Time Essence, and wants to defeat the withered bone king who takes many lives to his horrid army. I am here to warn you from that unsettling leader, and to take a priceless thing you never had in your riches in the past life. Time Essence is like a blue floating, glowing light. I need it to get out of this time. How may I serve you to get that sparkle in return..?
- (Pharaoh) Why should I fear a king that's undead like me?
And as if on cue, the answer instantly appeared. And it was none other than...
- Wither King?
- Ckcklakkahahaha! Look what I achieved through all these time travels! I even made mess not even you could fix!
- The lung assured me that everything will be okay there. If you look at those islands at our times, everything's fine. Some bad things cannot be undone, but I think this attempt will be stopped! (Even if I don't know what this will be...)
- I'm raiding this tomb! Some stone doggies can't stop an army of wither skeletons! All the remaining riches will be mine! Including - Wither King picked up a glowing cyan light covered in bandages that was in one of the chests - the Time Essence!
Suddenly, all obsidian-gold statues started to emit a stink the Pharaoh never felt before. But E.S. and Wither King perfectly knew what was going on; it was the Withering. A horrible disease that's curable as long as the bones aren't exposed due to progression. So Pharaoh and Ender Sparkle needed to escape the pyramid quickly. Knowledge of the layout combined with the power to fly really helped them. As soon as they escaped, Wither King and the figures followed after the duo. W.K. found a secret lever that caused destruction of this pyramid (originally purpose of the lever was different).
- (Pharaoh) I cannot behlieve my dry eyes - my afterlife palace was destroyed by another undead king, Same struggles as in the realm of the living...
- And now, my minions, convert this husk to our hive, our army!
- Not if I take this - said Ender Sparkle, as she swiped the Time Essence from Wither King.
Oddly, as soon as the bandages fell off, the obsidian-gold statues weren't controlled anymore. They were completely driven out of context terrified by the view of their keep destroyed. Wither King time-traveled away, the statues tried to make a camp from nearby materials, leaving Ender Sparkle and the Pharaoh alone.
- (Pharaoh) All my riches, all my engraving, maybe even all of my servants - all gone.
- Those drakedogs or something are right here. - said E.S., while pointing at the camp that miraculously had a campfire. - Maybe you could be a good overlord and help the set this up a bit?
Pharaoh replied, while dragging out his sarcophagus, or rather, a single gold coffin:
They are sentient. They can do anything a human, a villager or both of us could. They would want a new life, in harmony alongside the living. But I'm left with no home and what barely can be called a body. You say you came from the future? In the past, I lived there, and wouldn't want myself because of my greed from that period. Maybe i future I will find a safe haven to rest...? Can I go with you? I won't mess - I just want to sleep in my only coffin that's left of the sarcophagus.
- Okay, but no ancient germs.
Even if the machine from the outside looked like it's mostly hollow inside, it had more than fused cockpit, table and a chair. One of the modifications made during the 1st time travel were changes like moving the machinery below the floor and the storage chamber above the ceiling. All that was still looking decent. Wow. And we're now going to the next chapter - next time period.
