Introduction:
Welcome people to yet the second blog written by me, about server picking.
What server is good for you, and what is a waste of time? In this blog i personally teach you after many mistakes of joining servers, and wasting a day on nothing how to pick a server that fits for you.

Basics:
When you join a server you can already see what kind of server you joined. To do this right, you have to set priority's, what is importnant to you? To be sure you can expect something of this server, you should set these priority's:

~1.Community:
The first thing you should look at when you join, is how the community reacts. If you don't even get a simple welcome, what you do see alot on big servers. You can expect you will become just a dust in the wind for many. But watch out how you look at the community, don't expect diamond showers and rainbows saying welcome when you come online. Be simple, a warm welcome shows that the community likes that you joined, and you can mostly expect it is a good one.

Secondly after a minute or two you might going to ask to join a town/faction ( depends on server ). Sometimes you get invited by one, or twenty. It really depends, and don't feel sad when nobody invites you. Because in faction/towny server trust is something what is harder to get.

~2.Server/content
Your second priority should be how is the server, does it run well. and does it seems it has alot to offer? If it does, and the community is good. You can join with ease. To look if it has content, look at portals or warpsigns. What do they say? does the server has 20 different arenas? or none. Does the spawn contain a good market, and informative signs? then you could say it has content enough.

But watch out! Lagzilla might fool you! Many times people leave a heaven of a server for just a bit of lag. but, did those people ever think it might be them lagging? To check this out look at your render distance for a start. Is it far, facepalm yourself and put it normal. Are there heavy downloads going on? then don't mind the lag when something is downloading.

But unfortunatly sometimes it is a server, what means you should leave then, right? NO.
What if a server is worth it? That you can enjoy so much and so many, that the lag doesn't matter. I have sometimes on my server people who lag terribly because they have a wooden pc, and still continue to play on my server with lagspikes and glitching. Because they just like it so much. This you can do as well. So don't be fooled by Lagzilla so easy, and mind before you leave.

~3. Staff
Yes, goverment of the server. Sometimes hated, sometimes liked. But what is a "good" staff member? A one who rains diamonds and gold over you, or the one making this server playable at its best for you? well both actually. Generous staff is fun to have when there fair and giving all players equal stuff, but that type of staff is rare. And further they must be proffesional. You need to feel secured, that if their server and/or you gets hacked that their ready to secure it. And that you can trust them solving problems, conflicts, and other matters on the server. So be neutral about staff, but make sure they to their task right.

Types:
Every player likes different elements of minecraft, and every server has something of it to offer.
So besides the basics, what to look for next?

~RPG:
If you love RPG servers, look at the storyline and theme first. Do you like the storyline, and you like the theme? then it's already going well. Play a bit after, is it interactive and full of content? then you should play it.

~PVP:
At PVP servers its importnant to know what improves you're pvp experience. Is there faction's? Are getting good stuff easy on this server? Can i expect fair play from my enemies, and after all. Will i enjoy fighting here? If all these questions are answered and you like them, then this is the pvp server for you.

~Nations and Towns.
If you are Towny addicted then you're primary goal is to look at the community. If there all just retards, then what your doing here? Those "People" will have to be part of you're town, and you will rule them. Be very very picky about the community on towny servers. Because you will play with them for the rest of you're playtime on that server.

Thank you for reading my second blog, and i hope it helped you picking your server. Any feedback is welcome in the comments, and if you like it diamond and/or post a nice comment. And i hope i made you pick better with this blog.
