So, there are thousands of servers out there, there are big servers, and small servers.
If you are looking for one, but are not sure what to pick, keep reading, because I am going to give some Pros and Cons
First up:
BIG SERVERS!!
Pros:
Big servers have a ton of players, on pvp servers, this is great!
Big servers have many different games/gamemodes to choose from!
Big servers are always up!
In big faction servers, it is easy to get into a faction!
Big servers are always up to date!
Most Big servers have an awesome website!
Big servers are hard to hack and cheat on! (Most of the time :P)
Cons:
Big servers are sometimes very laggy.
It is harder to make friends in a Big server.
Big servers' survival worlds are usually VERY GRIEFED! It could take 5 IRL days to get far away enough to build!
A big servers' chat is usually to fast to keep up with.
It is hard to keep your faction safe from so many players!
Players are sometimes discouraged on Big servers, like getting spawnkilled.

Now for the:
SMALL SERVERS!!!
Pros:
Small servers are easy to make friends on!
Small servers' survival worlds are usually not blown up! You will not have to walk far to make that base!
In a Small server, it is easier to survive and keep that faction!
Small servers have a small community, where it is easy to get recognized!
Small servers are almost lag free! (At least, the ones that are not hosted from home... :P)
A Small servers' chat is usually spam clean, and easy to talk on!
Small servers make it easier to talk to staff, as in reporting bugs, or just having fun!
Small servers are perfect for playing with a group of friends!
Cons:
Most small servers are hosted from home, and are EXTREMELY Laggy.
Small servers are sometimes down for days without warning.
Small servers are sometimes out of date.
Small servers have very few players on at a time.
Most small servers only offer one thing... Like factions.

I was saying that the ones taht are hosted from home are laggy, and that the ones that are not... Are not.. xD
but then I hate big servers 'cause There isnt often ocean biomes, which are key and the quickest way to get away from spawn.
Just cuz I can.
