DISCLAIMER
This does NOT have any tutorials for building things! It's just a few steps on the PATH to be a builder! So don't expect any build tutorials, please! (There are plenty of those on here already.) Also, you can expect some sarcasm in here, too, okay? Understand? GREAT!

Step One: Find a Server
What's that, you say? You don't work well with others, but you want to build for other people to see? Well, I'm going to tell you something my father told me: SUCK IT UP, BUTTERCUP. It seems a bit harsh, but it's the truth. If you want people to see your build, then you'll either have to a. post it here on Planet Minecraft, or b. build it on a server. Both of those options, sadly, involve social interaction.
Step Two: Find a Good Spot
You CANNOT just expect to spawn in the perfect spot for your build. You'll probably have to travel hundreds of thousands of blocks searching. You'll probably get a couple of false chances. That's normal. But it's worth it if you're serious about becoming a builder. Okay? Okay. Glad we're clear on that. Anyways, I would also suggest putting it somewhere that's not TOO separated from the rest of the server. Otherwise, it'll be too much of a pain in the buttinsky for people to come see it.
Step Three: Wait, you don't KNOW what you want to build yet?
Seriously? You should have thought of this BEFORE you read the guide! Ugh. *facepalms* Fine, fine, I'll help. Think about it for a second: what's something you REALLY wish you had in real life? A hot tub the size of an Olympic swimming pool? A giant tower all to yourself? It's up to you! But be warned, if it's something huge like, oh, I don't know, a 1:1 scale of New York City, I'd get some help. (A squadron of 30-40 people, perhaps??)
Step Four: Get Help (If you need it. If not, read this anyways.)
Now look, if you're the type that doesn't want help, like I said, SUCK IT UP. If you're gonna build the megacity of your dreams, you'll need help. Pick out a few close friends that you can trust not to grief your crappy awesome build. If you don't have any, maybe ask around in the forums. If that doesn't work, try Minecraft Forums. It's kind of the bottom of the barrel, but still. It's the closest you'll get.
Step Five (Geez, how long is this thing?): Get to it, already!
Now that you have help and an idea-wait, you DID read Steps Three and Four, right? No? Sigh...why did I pick this job? Come back when you've read those! ... Done? Good. Now then, since you have help, and an idea, what in the name of Notch are you waiting for? A royal invitation? Well it ain't coming anytime soon, pal. We're burning daylight, here! Try not to slack off, either. I did that once, and I STILL haven't finished that house...I should probably get on that sometime this year...Ahem. Anyways, it's time for my lunch break. Beat it, ok?
