Okay so I guess I'll rant first since I can't do the rest of it yet.
To begin with, I've been seeing a lot of people saying; I'm not good at skinning, My skin is terrible, Why can't I do this right, etc. I want to get this out there that there is no such thing as a bad skin! :3
Here's two screenshots of the very first skin (that I didn't delete) that I ever made. It's a Pikachu girl c:
Everyone starts somewhere. I did no shading, and at the time I thought this was the best skin in the world. In my opinion, everyone should think about their skins in a similar manner. If I were to have a rules book for getting good at skinning, well, take a look for yourself. (At some point here I'll go over everything I've plopped into here)
Sozbi's Book O' Skinning Rules
o Always have a good attitude about your skins! They're yours, and everyone has their own style!
o Practice! Practice makes, well, something.
o Always remember that no one human being is perfect! Mistakes are unavoidable!
o Don't expect to get popreel or 100's of views on your very first skin! Unless you come to PMC with experience, it probably won't happen!
o (This isn't exactly a rule but oh well) I find that when you do something as little as complimenting someone, it can make their day.
Whenever I get comments and what not it on my skins reminds me why I make skins, for you people out there! Yes, you.
o Try different shading styles, rule out what works and what doesn't.
o Be positive! Creating skins shouldn't be something to dread. Skins are made for fun and show your creative side!
o (This is through my experience) You can count on the people who support you! If they support you, they'll be by your side.
o Take critique! It helps! It may seem like a hater comment at first, but try their advice! You never know, it may help you a lot!
o If you're out there in the community and support a multitude of different people, you'll appear as a more likable guy/gal!
o Have some kind of idle! When I first started this particular account, Sozbi/Doggo, my idle was/is IcarianPrince and because he has
beautiful skins I can never imagine myself ever making. But hey, I've made it as far as I have.
o Most importantly, have fun when making your skins! They can be of anything and everything you can ever and never imagine!
My mind is whirlwind right now, but that's all I've got at the moment.
Anyway, don't beat yourself up if you don't think your skins are good, because every skin is unique in it's own ways! I'm working on trying to reach out into the community more, because as is I'm hiding in the deep dark corner of an amazing community who has it's arms wide open for me.
(Probably really off topic, idk anymore) Personally, I'm an introvert, I talk to much, and I start to loose the focus of what I'm talking about, which is what's happening as I type this. This is what's stopping me from diving head first into the depths of PMC, but that's not stopping me from contributing. Remember, you don't have to take my advice, as it's complete opinion though my own experience, but I highly recommend getting out there in the community.
Since this part is probably about to start repeating itself, I'll move on. owo
Sozbi, why the heck do u even skin bro? (Idk how many of you talk like this, but oh well.)
I think I've probably said this before, and I've told my entire 8th grade class this during out graduation speeches, but I make skins because I love to make 3D people that you can play as, and even brag about if you really wanted. :P
Another big, big reason I make skins is because of all of you who have supported me, without you guys I probably would have quit PMC all together and ran away from society all together.
(On a completely off topic note; If you have problems like this you can always come talk to me, I've hit rock bottom twice now, and probably a third time really, really soon. Or you can talk to me just 'cause, I don't really care :P)
Things that keep me going are;
Thinking of my two lovely cats; Oliver and Bailey. Oliver isn't a very cuddly cat, but for a long time he was the only pet I had, he's 17 and I'm 14. Bailey (on the date I wrote this area) has been with me for a full week now, and he's very, very cuddly. Plus he likes to lick people, a lot. He's 8.
Thinking of 3 older friends from late 2013 - early 2015 I believe it was. I lost these three, Yoshterra, Jstt, and Saturn356/Resolas awhile ago, and I haven't stopped thinking of them since. It used to make me said to think of them, but now they are happy memories. Yoshterra was the reason I met the other two. He and I would spend whole days sitting in the lobby of our favorite server (which is now gone) and talk about who knows what. Jstt was my best friend of the three for sure, but he was also the one that crushed me later on after I lost them. And Saturn356/Resolas was always really quiet. I didn't know him all to well, but it was always my silent challenge to beat him at anything he was good at, which I always failed.
Thinking of my supporters for sure.
Remember this: you can use my current shading style (current as of when I wrote this) all you want, all you have to do is credit me somehow and you're fine. gamerjellyfish is the only person on this globe who currently doesn't need to credit unless he really, really wants to.

Why I skin!
