Have you mined before in minecraft, but couldn't find a tunnel. Well today is your lucky day, I'm sonic1292 and these are some tips on mining.
Tip #1: make your own mineshaft
Start by digging a foundation in the ground (maybe 10 by 10 blocks) and start digging down each layer, but leave a row of blocks so you could make stairs to walk back up. 60% of the time if you dig in the right spot you might hit a tunnel.
Tip #2: always use stone
A stone pickaxe will last you longer then iron, because you can create alot of them and you'll have a ton of stone when your mining.
Tip #3: dig through dirt
If you see some dirt and/or gravel on the wall then try to dig, chances you might find a another tunnel or some extra stuff.
Tip #4: always carry dirt with you
there will always be a time when you get stuck in a hole and thats when you need dirt.
Follow these tips and maybe, just maybe, you might find a diamond.
