Steve continued to mine as the zombie and spider crept up behind him. Steve turned and dropped his pickaxe in surprise. He fled the cave and ran outside. The zombie stopped, unable to bear sunlight, but the spider scuttled after him.

Steve climbed up the tree just as the spider came outside. It crawled around, looking for him. Steve began breaking wood blocks at the top of the tree. He made a crafting table and used it to make another ladder.

Steve peered through the leaves. The spider was still down there and Steve knew that he would never make it back to the cave unseen. He took a stick and hurled it as hard as he could in the opposite direction. The spider heard the noise and went to investigate. Steve jumped from the tree and sprinted for the cave, looking over his shoulder all the while. He'd forgotten
about the zombie and ran straight into it, sending them both to the ground.

Steve got up and narrowly avoided a lunge from the zombie. The zombie aimed another swipe and he ducked again. Steve saw his pickaxe glinting in the dark and dived for it. He threw at the zombie. It hit the zombie's head with a smack and it fell to the ground again.

Steve climbed up the new ladder. He looked down and saw the zombie and spider glaring back at him. He gave them both a cheery wave and went back to his house.
