Stone Beaches?

Has anybody ever come across a beach in their world where the sand is replaced with stone? Sorry if this is very common. But today is the first day I've seen something like that. Sorry I don't have a screeny at the moment, I'll try to get one later. It's amazing what kind of things can generate in your world like, floating islands and other phenomena.
