Well, I first wrote this like two years ago when I was angry and alot younger (and defiantly more immature). Someone had recently griefed a server I had spent who knows how many hours building countlessly on. Chances are they used some sort of hack client or knew a loop hole to the freshly installed safety plugins. Anyway, after this happened I got extremely frustrated, and life seemed to be doing a back flip. It's like when you spend hours on an essay, and then it somehow gets deleted from your computer. Sucks, right? What's worse is that the person who did it was someone I thought was my friend. Apparently not.

So, I wanted to write this to tell you what problems griefing can cause. Well, obviously the person who got griefed is going to be extremely frustrated. If you had spent hours on the beach making a sand castle and someone kicked it over, that is basically how it feels. Wondering why it happened to you, and what you did to deserve it. The funny thing is, griefers half the time find it funny watching people angry, and also think it isn't their fault since they weren't the ones who failed to protect the building. They, in an esscene, lie to themselves to some extent. For some people, getting griefed is a common thing. Maybe they play on factions, not like it's uncommon to get griefed on factions. Others have spent hours on a server or a build and getting griefed is like getting  stabbed threw the heart. Some people might even quit minecraft due to griefing. Some may call that over reacting, but it isn't really. Sometimes enough is enough. Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know how tough it is getting your work destroyed. And if you're a griefer, think this over carefully. And, if you were griefed, wish you  luck in the repairing of your work!

Dang. I totally understand the whole friend thing and the backstabbing. Some person lost everything to a griefer gang. They literally took everything out of his chests and blew holes in the side of his build. Anyways, I invited him to live with me. Which he did. Guess what... Fifteen hours spent creating the largest underground base I have ever made... -_-

The main reason people say that its your fault for playing on an unprotected server is to make themselves feel better about griefing. (If they say that enough, they'll start to believe it themselves.)

There are going to be morons who like to screw with people's hard work and bully us around. You can't change that. But what you can do is when you first run into problems in a server, log out of it. Simple. Just log out of it.

I'm going to update this blog as it's a bit outdated and my viewpoints have changed.

I gave you a diamond.

Also, I know greifing is bad, but if you don't like it so much then why continue to go on servers where that is going to happen?

We have single player, you know. That's there for a reason.

Fair point. I posted this blog who knows how long ago, so it is a bit outdated. I have different opinions on griefing now and I might get around to updating the blog. And thanks for the diamond.

Okay, it was a factions server. Griefing is allowed. If you go to a factions server, you're bound to be griefed. I also hate griefers, but it was a factions server! On your server, you should have made it bukkit and put an anti-grief plugin.
