First off, i'm NOT ranting about the existence of diamonds in game or on PMC!
So, where to begin? I guess i'm kind of ranting about the community. So there is this cute diamond button up in the corner. You see it?
Good. On it there is a little image of a diamond.
Can you guess what you do with that button when you like someones work?
You click it!
(shocker, right?)
So, i've made this wonderful tutorial on how it actually works, now, here is where the rant comes in. The majority of the community seems to forget that the button is there. They might simply forget. (If that's you, consider it a reminder!) Some people work so hard to get their work shown, and get like, 2 diamonds. Yikes. Maybe the other diamond came from their friend. There are plenty of talented skinners, builders and people out there who don't get the credit they deserve. FOR ALL YOU IDIOTS: I AM NOT BUTTHURT, I AM USING MYSELF AS AN EXAMPLE, LETS MAKE THAT CLEAR NOW. I'll use myself as an example (not saying i'm that good at skinning): I've been skinning for about 2, 3 years? The most diamonds I have recieved is 5 (on a skin), and that was lucky for me. And the shocker? 48 downloads. Let me repeat that. 48 downloads. Wow. So out of all 48 people who used and obviously liked my skin, only 5 diamonded? I can understand if they don't have any account, but that would probably be only 10 of them. So, assuming 10 of them were guests, that means 33 people didn't even bother. Maybe they forget, maybe they were just lazy. Also, what is a real shocker is that on the skin reel currently, there is a wonderful skin by Drazile12 posted here. It is a similar case to mine. 44 diamonds, but can you guess how many downloads? 78. And, I may be mistaken, but the downloads doesn't display how many people changed it to their skin. So, there might be like 150 people using it who just didn't hit "download". So, to wrap this up: USE THE DIAMOND BUTTON, PEOPLE DESERVE RECOGNITION FOR THE WORK THEY DO!
TL;DR:
Use the diamond button a lot more often!
PLEASE NOTE I WILL BE SAYING MY OPINION ON EACH STATEMENT, HOWEVER YOU ARE FREE TO DRAW YOUR OWN CONCLUSIONS!
In order to keep it so people don't think I only care for my own opinion, I spoke with TommyLee_Avenger who had a different opinion on the subject and I he posted some insightful comments. One being,
"Diamonds aren't the only way to get credit. :/"
Which certaintly raises a fair point; diamonds aren't the only way to give credit. Simply the act of downloading provides a feeling of "Hey, people like my skin!" But then again, it poses another problem. Diamonds and views really help get your work noticed, so in a way they are necessary. We spoke a bit more and he posted,
"I agree, they are very nice to have. The diamond is supposedly the hardest thing in real life and the most beautiful (in my opinion). Plus they are extremly hard to find in the game, in which we all know."
Very good point, I couldn't agree more. However, diamonds are giveable through the click of a button on planet minecraft, so they aren't that hard to achieve if people were to actually give them. Anyway, I might be doing a joint-blog with him sometime soon to discuss other topics so if you want to be kept up to date on that, it'd be great if you subbed.
Also, on a side note, people were saying I was/am butthurt so I figured i'd post another quote from TommyLee_Avenger defending me in my case. (For the record, i'm not butthurt xD)
"Dude, everyone wants more diamonds on their content. Even you. But are we all butthurts? No. So, shut your trap and stop judging everyone."
Anyway, he's a great guy, hope you get to meet and chat with him!
I hope the community has become more aware of the topic, and if you supported the work I put in to this a diamond is always appreciated!
Anyway, have a nice day!

P.S. Make sure to look at all the great skinners out there who aren't getting the credit they deserve!
