First things first, let me make this clear: Everyone is bound to their own opinions on things, and this is simply my own. I am not writing this blog to try and begin a flame war, but simply to point out pros and cons of both these elements of the game. You are entitled to your own opinion, and if you wish to *calmly* share it in a comment, or if you agree/ disagree with what I end up saying, go ahead and leave a comment below. I will not respond to rage/ hate messages, so don't even bother unless you're that bored and have nothing else better to do in your spare time.

So, now that that's clarified, let's begin. The sole purpose of this is to show which gamemode in my opinion is better, but also, I guess you could say there's an underlying purpose to this- to showcase different elements of each that someone new to MC may not know quite yet. I remember when I first started playing the game- I was constantly in creative mode, but have since found myself trying, and liking, survival mode more and more... I guess this would be a good point to go ahead and start my comparison.

Survival
Ah yes, good ole' survival mode. The one that is more lifelike, where you have to match wits with the surrounding environment in order to ensure your life will continue. It's also not the easiest, unless you're so chicken as to put it on Peaceful mode, at which point, you may as well be playing creative mode....

You start out with nothing, and have to work at getting the supplies, tools, weapons, and other necessities to be able to survive in a world where you never know what's around the next bend in the cave... another creeper perhaps, ready to blow you up? A skeleton, ready to shoot you full of arrows before you can even get in range to even attempt to kill it? As you progress through the different elements of the game, you find yourself growing a bit more brave as you get better armor and weapons that, through enchantments and combining via anvils, enable you to become a pretty unbeatable foe versus the hostiles...

Not only that, but survival has the added bonus of more features when you enter multiplayer. You have the ability to work together with other players, aiding each other in surviving, or you could set up a faction and raid other factions that are your enemies. You could even partake in PvP matches to your heart's content. Not to mention all the fun minigames people have come up with since the game's really taken off, such as Spleef, TNT Run, and Mob Arenas just to name a few well-known ones.

The only big thing I have to say is sometimes at the beginning, it does suck to get stuck outside at night without any shelter if you're that... well, I'll say it nicely... unlucky to be in that situation. You find yourself overwhelmed, and looking for any rivers or oceans to take you away from land, since most of the time, most hostile mobs won't seem to follow you too far out if you can get far enough away... but that's quickly avoidable by working more on time-management skills and getting even a crude shelter made fast that you can easily upgrade as you get more established.

Now over to the other side...

Creative
Even though this mode was the first I really stayed in for the majority of the first year and however odd months of me playing MC, I'll mention it second... I'm not trying to say just by my order that I think creative is worse, but it's just the way it ended up working out. So, let's get back on track before I get too far off it...

Creative mode: the mode where anything pretty much is possible. You can build anything you wish with anything you could want to use, and the only limits are your imagination and, well, build height :P Oh yeah, I forgot to mention you can fly around too! Sounds fun, eh?

Yeah you can go exploring, and not have to worry about things such as fall damage, explosion damage, hostiles attacking you, and so on, but beyond that... is there anything else you can do in creative? Not really that I've seen. It seems like there's nothing much to this gamemode besides building... and flying around... and building... until you're so bored and out of ideas, you're ready for something different. Truth is, creative is fun in spurts, but not for long- term play, unless you add mods that may add some interest back in for a little bit- but why not mod a survival world and have the added excitement there?

So yeah. Pretty much all you can do is freely blow stuff up/set stuff on fire/lava everything in sight when you're angry, or build.

The Verdict
To me, this seems pretty clear- cut, and I'm sure you guys can surmise just from what I've said, what my winner is going to be, but I still feel obligated to say it- I think survival's the better of the two. Not only do you have to actually use your head to be able to get something out of that gamemode, but you can still build, save without the ability to use all items that are in the game unless you're that good, and you can still blow stuff up or whatever to lessen the anger... but you can even kill stuff legit to take that anger out too.. 3:)

So there you have it. I'll reiterate this right here just in case someone didn't read the beginning, since I know some people don't read the whole thing, but simply skim to what they want to read... THIS IS SIMPLY MY OPINION. I'm not saying everyone should believe this, and if you would like to state where you stand *Calmly*, go ahead. I'm not going to respond to rage/hate comments though...

Without reading this blog, I say that both of them are better in their own ways.

Agreed, but I also kinda went over why I prefer the one over the other... As I said, this was simply my opinion- for a while even yesterday when I pondered doing this sort of blog, I was more on your end there, but truly, I do think what I decided on above is my true opinion if I had to choose one over the other. Thanks for checking this out though :3
