Full Written Review
The fantastic realm of Kargeth by Madnes64 (and friends) sets the standard of what medieval realms should strive to be in Minecraft. It contains anything and everything to be desired in a middle-aged world and is built to massive scale. From my first walkthroughs of the lands of Thasarion and other kingdoms, I was taken away by the both the skill level of the builds and the different style they each possess. Overall, Kargeth soars over the vast competition of medieval builds in Minecraft, solidifying it's place as the king of middle-aged Minecraftia.
When it comes the originality of this project, It's definetely not the first medieval universe ever built but certainly has unique qualities about it that sets it apart from the rest. I have seen and experienced alot of medieval maps before and most, if not all of them, have the same premice: fantasy instead of realism. Kargeth not only goes for a realistic aspect but achieves it in such a way that makes the world feel living and breathing. This is a feeling that few maps actually get right and Kargeth manages to do this so effortlessely. It really does make for a one of a kind experience that again, sets it apart from its predecessors.
Kargeth is quite simply a love letter to any rpg fan. From the high rooftops of the city of Thasarion to the nordic ports up north to a sand swept kingdom lying in a barren desert, it all looks finished and detailed. The structures in Kargeth are all very well made and created by a team of different builders each possesing there own style and it looks simply stunning. It is safe to say that this is quite possibly one of the most well-built projects on Planet Minecraft. It is as visually stimulating as it is immense, and will keep you searching every crack and crevasse for the tiniest details and finishing touches.
For being so detailed, I didn't expect the world to be so big until I actually started flying around in it. It was an awe-inspiring experience venturing to different kingdoms and locations around the map. From the dark forests to the high, jagged cliffsides of the sea, it truly makes exploration fantastic and will keep you searching for more lands for
hours on end.
Despite all this appealment, Kargeth still manages to be historically accurate to its time and realism is still the center focus. I didn't appreciate this until I watched some of Madnes64's Youtube videos on his wonderous creation. Their, it explains both how the placement of cities and the building styles can reflect a kingdoms past or present state. For example, most cities are placed near a body of water such as a bay or river. This reflects real medieval times in that trade and commerce increases greatly when seaside ports are available.
All in all, Kargeth by Madnes64 is a stunning representation of medieval times that unquestionably goes leaps and bounds over It's many opponents taking on a fairly new style that creates a visual masterpiece which intrigues and excites in nearly every way possible.
