Captain's Log: Day 1

It's our first day on the sea, and it looks wonderful. I still am amazed by the beauty of the shining brine. I just hope that this will be a successful trip. We are supposed to be headed for a place called the "Nation of the Empire". A rather odd name, but they pay well enough. I hear that they have rather vulgar tactics, and don't get along very well. But, I digress. They are paying me to take a single object across the sea: A lever. It looks rather odd, and slightly dented. I hope that they don't try getting off on my payment by saying that I damaged the goods. It wouldn't be the first time, and I have almost lost my entire ship from that fraudulent activity. But, I don't think that will be happening.

I know that this isn't any normal trip. Apart from the fact that the entire trip is delivering a single lever, the man who gave me the job is even odder. He walked into the bar, wild, grizzled. He stumbled over to the counter, asked for me. I have never seen him before, and didn't think someone would be that desperate to get my services. Truth be told, my men are drunk more often than not, and I'm sure that they take a small amount of gold every time we deliver some. But, he was intent on my services. He must have known I'm a sucker for an entire gold ingot. And that isn't even half the payment. He simply told me this.

"Get this to Nation of the Empire. Don't stop for anything, I just need this away from here. It needs to go as soon as possible. The man at the docks will give you the rest of the payment. Hurry!"

I finished my cup, then told him that the job was as good as done. He looked relieved. It was about that time that I saw his eyes were a pure white. That would explain why he tripped over everything to get to the counter. He must be blind, or at the very least, unable to see very much. It made me think twice about this job. But, obviously, I still agreed. I just hope it was a good idea. Of course, we're not just shipping some lever. We also have a few crates of salted pork, and feathers supposedly from an "undead man, who was an incredible green!" The guy looked like he had one too many, so I'm not too prone to believe him. But, pay is pay. And the College of Natural Phenomenon will be very happy to see these, even if they are fake. I'm sure they will offer a round on the house. They always do.

Look at the time! I must be going to bed. I hope that my crew save me some of "Casper's" special brew. I do like that spiced drink.
