CHAPTER TWO : LISTOWEL
I turn over in my bed trying to find the sweet spot. My eyes snap open. "I'm in a bed" I say to myself. I glance around the room getting a grasp on my surroundings. There is a glass of water on the bedside table. As I reach over to get it searing pain shoots throughout my body. I take off my shirt and look at a bandage that has been neatly woven around my wound. I stand up but sit back down again feeling too woozy to stand. I take a sip of water and return to my slumber.
"Wakey wakey mister" A warm inviting voice hollers from through the door. The door opens and an old woman toddles into the room. "How are you doing?" She asks me in a kind manor. "I'm fine thanks" I reply. o Where am I?" I mumble. "You're in the village of Listowel and my name is Elizabeth but you can call me Lizzy everyone else does. And what is your name" She draws back the curtains. I wince at the bright light through the glass "My names Steve, I think?" My uncertainty shocks me. o Well ito s nice to meet you Steve" She extends a hand. I do the same. "And does the pig have a name?" She says with a grin. "Oh, you mean Dash." She lets out a laugh. "Thats a funny name for a pigo She said. "He is a very fast pig." I explain. "Well just so you know the children are taking your pig for a joyride."
For breakfast I had eggs, bread and milk. I get dressed and head out into the town. "Steve before I forget, could you go to the market and get some provisions for supper and take this walking stick to help you." I take the walking stick, coin purse and the list then head for the market.
AND SO THE JOURNEY BEGINS
