So, I'm pretty sure you guys have heard of Derp before. It is a meme that is commonly associated with stupidity, commonly displayed by a person with widespread eyes. People have edited thousands of pictures by changing their eyes, and posted them with a derp caption.
So, how did derp start? Derp originated from a 1998 movie called BASEketball. During one scene, the protagonist walks out of a room and shouts DERP! Later on, in South Park episode 34, a man named Mr. Derp replaces chef, and hits himself on the head while shouting derp. It was also used in many South Park episodes.
The word "Herp" often is used as a pronoun for derp, and forms the phrase: Herp Derp. It can express even more stupidity than just derp alone.
If you are on a forum, and someone posts derp, it's usually used as a reply to a stupid comment. For instance if someone posted "are zombies killed by water?", someone will probably reply no, derp.
