Amid a lush green forest, a magnificent rat snake resided. Its scales were as black as the night sky, but they shone brightly in the sunlight, making it a sight to behold. One hot summer day, the snake's stomach grumbled with hunger, knowing it had to find something to eat. With a flick of its tongue, it set off on its quest, slithering through the undergrowth, searching for the slightest whiff of prey.

As it stealthily moved, the sinuous snake spotted a puny and feeble grey mouse. With each passing moment, the reptile gradually approached the helpless prey.
"Watch it!" The mouse hollered. The snake nodded its head as it hissed,
"Mustn't worry, little mouse, I am only inviting thou for dinner in mine burrow. "
"You are not fooling me," said the mouse, "I don't wish upon being eaten today, not any day." Then, the rodent scurried off.

As the rat snake slithered through the grass, it couldn't help but feel discouraged. The hunt for food had been unsuccessful so far. However, luck was about to change as it spotted a plump squirrel scampering across the forest floor. The snake slowly approached its prey, its sinewy body moving silently through the undergrowth.
"G'day, snake," The squirrel spoke, "Why are you slithering closer to me?"
The rat snake responded, "I only ask to invite thou for dinner in mine burrow."
"Good one, mate," The squirrel laughed, "You think any critter would fall for such a thing as that?" Then, the rodent scurried off.

After several unsuccessful attempts to find food, the rat snake felt defeated and hopeless. It had been slithering for hours, growing weaker and weaker, and was now desperate for sustenance. As it continued on its journey, it suddenly stumbled upon a tall crow. The snake was negligibly intimidated by the bird's height, but it didn't let it get too into its head.
"Hello, serpent," The crow spoke, "What hath thou next to mine talons?"
The snake tucked away its nervousness and spoke, "I am here to invite thou to mine burrow only to keep for dinner."
"Is so?" The corvid snapped, "I shall follow thou there then.

The rat snake's sharp black eyes shone with an insatiable hunger as it kept an eagle eye on the unsuspecting crow. Its empty stomach twisted with hunger pangs, and it knew a delicious meal was within its grasp. The snake glided forward stealthily, its smooth body moving noiselessly across the ground as it lured the bird closer and closer towards its hidden lair, waiting patiently for the perfect moment to strike. The snake's anticipation grew, and it could feel its mouth watering in anticipation of the upcoming feast.

Finally, they both reached the snake's burrow when the crow spoke,
"Thou wouldn't befall to know that rat snake is one of my favourite meals, hm?"
The rat snake's obsidian pupils dilated with terror as it heard the crow's words.
"What? thou art making me thy dinner?" I invited thou to feast with me, not on me!" The snake growled, "Maybe we should part ways now before things get gruesome."
"Oh, no," The crow responded, looking down at the little black snake coiled in the grass, "I be already here, snake, and I be rather hungry."

The sharp talons of the crow firmly gripped the back of the snake's head, effectively restricting its movements. Attempting to retaliate, the rat snake tried to coil itself around the crow's leg, but to no avail.
"Things do not hast to be this way!" The rat snake yelled in a final attempt to persuade the crow to release it from death's door. The crow ignored this attempt as it chomped down on the snake's head. Everything went dark for the rat snake as its body stopped fighting back. The crow swallowed its meal. Oh, how roles reversed from how the snake visioned.
