If you are reading this, you either have good taste in blogs, or are questioning my level of wisdom.
Well just for you guys, I've dug up an old chat I had in the forums about the meaning of life.
I'll admit it's a long read, but it's really worth taking the time to go through.
So without further ado, here we go!

The topic was "What is the meaning of life?"
(Also please note I tend to insert my sense of humor into almost everything)

Pykes: There is no meaning to life because life wasn't created on purpose, it just kind of happened.
For example; "OH MY GOD, WHAT'S THE MEANING OF THIS DEAD HOOKER IN MY ROOM?!" "I don't know, man! One thing led to another, and then this happened! She didn't even say the safety word!"

Some Cool Guy: Oh no! I think you may have just sparked a debate!
You see, to say that life was an accident, (and then to blame such things as murder on life having no reason) is basically saying we can do whatever we want, because there's no reason for anything. Laws are hereby pointless, now, go into the world and spread the word of anarchy!

Pykes: Well just because life happened by accident doesn't mean it's not still valuable.
If you think people are actually gonna go around murdering people just because life was not intentional then you may have a flawed view on human morality.
(also i meant the dead hooker to be a metaphor. Killing people senslessly is bad whether or not life was on purpose or accidental.)

SCG: Yes, but I was simply pointing out the error with your example. You could have chosen something else to represent what you meant. Still, if life is accidental, then there really is no meaning to life. Without meaning what value can there be? I'm sorry, I've just never understood things of this nature. For instance, gold is valuable, because it's rare. Is there any other reason? No, it's just one of the most exceedingly rare substances on the planet, and a lot of people like the way it looks.
So, if life has no meaning, why is it valuable? The question of this thread is a question with no answer. That question is "Why?" No-one knows the answer, no-one can know the answer. Life is what we make it out to be, and that's all there is to it.

Now here comes the big climax
Pykes: Life is valuable because it's OUR thing. It's the ultimate opportunity, and it's a one-shot deal. Life is valuable because without it we would never have the opportunity to even be discussing what's so great about it because we wouldn't exist. Nothing would except elements, and compounds. Obviously we can't go around appreciating every single little aspect of life because that's just excessive, but giving new generations the opportunity to have that life of theirs is a good enough reason itself to appreciate life. That's what animals have going for them as they eat each other, but point is we don't need a special purpose to realize how f***ing lucky we are to be alive, especially at this very moment where life is becoming easier to enjoy as well. (Easier in some ways, worse in others) That in and of itself should be enough to go through life, but lately most peoples morailites has been altered in such a way that they always need something better than what they have. Which is the reason apple products are so excessively popular. They pretend to be the best of the best with futuristic looking pieces of garbage, and a big price tag.
It's also the reason that you feel the need to ask what the purpose of life is. It's not good enough for you.
To sum it all up life is worth living and respecting because it's the best we've got going for ourselves. Sorry you can't have your special purpose in the world, you'll just have to make one up based on what others might want or need from you. (Again, nothings perfect, but it's pretty damn good.)

Pykes, thank-you. You made me think more just now than anyone or anything has in years. Your post could be summed up in the simple phrase "Stop and smell the roses." Though, I fear that I never truly understood that simple thought until just now. So, again, thank-you.
