"Killed mysteriously. His heart was missing when we found him." The village head explains.

"Mysterious indeed.. When did this occur?" A minecraftian detective arrives from behind.

"He was last seen entering back his house after mining. His friend found him afterwards after visiting him."

Hm...

"What is his name?" The detective scratches his chin as he looks at the lifeless body.

"Herobrine."

.....

It's been exactly three days since the incident occurred and I am constantly haunted by how mysterious the man died. His heart was pulled by force, but there was no gap. Destroyed by explosion? Highly unlikely. The body was fresh with no wounds in particular. It's physically impossible for anyone to pull the heart of any minecraftian, it just doesn't make sense. Would the murderer stitch the wound back in place? No reason to. And plus, it would leave marks when it was found. There is no way the man could die in such a mysterious way..

Unless.. it was done spiritually?

No. Not possible. There is no such thing as spirits or magic. There are no invisible beings in this world. But then.. what would cause this death?

I stand up and exit the bar, deeply in thought. What else could cause the missing of a heart? By means of poison or acid? It could melt the rest of the body. In addition, there were no remains of acid found in the body. I keep my eyes to the ground, my right hand on my chin trying to come up with a possible answer to such a weird murder. The possibilities that rise, falls just as quickly. My legs move in a steady pace but my mind races to search for a possible answer.

"Would you like a rose, sir?"
I stop in my tracks and look around at the sudden voice. I caught a small figure in my line of sight and look down. A small child stands there, he holds out a small but beautiful rose. He looks frail and weak, suffering malnutrition like any other orphans around the area. He hangs on a dirty set of torn clothes. He is short and probably young. His face held no emotion. Absolutely nothing at all.

Because he had pure white eyes.

"Uhm.. no. Sorry." I hastily decline and pick up my pace.
The child did not respond. As I walk away, I could feel his gaze behind me. I try not to look back and kept walking forward but I could not fight back the urge to look back. After speed walking a short distance, I turn my head back, to look at the child. Which vanished from sight.

I felt chills creeping down my spine but I forced it back. I put my hands in pockets and begin forward, putting what I saw at the back of my mind. It's just a random occurrence. I'm probably too flustered, I misunderstood my vision.
Did I?

The next day, another villager fell under the hands of the mysterious serial killer. Her heart was also missing, taken away by the hands of the murderer. Another puzzling death. I arrive at the scene of the crime immediately as soon as I was informed. The room where the killing took place is strangely clean, just like the previous villager. The villager that died is lying on the bed. Her eyes remain open and lifeless. Upon closer inspection, turns out, like the child the day before, it takes in a pure color of white.

Is the child in part of this? I should ask him.

"I might have a lead." I spoke out my thoughts.

"What is it, detective?" A nearby guard asks out of curiosity.

"I've seen the white eyes before."

I return to the area where I previously saw the child with white eyes. It's located along the road that passes by a nearby graveyard, to the right if you walk from the bar. I retrace my steps and take on the path again, eyes searching the area for the child. I keep on a steady pace. I turned right around a corridor of a house and I saw him immediately. The child stands there, staring blankly into space. He holds a single red rose in his right hand. A drop of sweat trickles down my face. I wipe it away and approach the child.

The child appears shocked as he saw me walking towards me. His mouth struggles to curve into a smile and he holds out the rose.

"Would you like a rose, sir?" He repeats.
Is he a robot? Does he sell roses for a living? As I suspect, his eyes were white as usual. There are no blackness, just the white. It's kind of scary if you ask meThe rose appears slightly wilted, the petals take on a darker color than usual. The stem is embedded with few thorns but the child held it with great care to not hurt himself. The child's eyes peer into mine and just stays that way. Does this guy even breathe at all?

"Do you know anything about the recent murders?"

"Would you like a rose, sir?" He ignored my question. I remain persistent.

"Why do you have those eyes?"

"A rose, sir." The child stares right back at me, his voice is devoid of life.
I sighed and put my hands in my pockets in search of coins. I took out a quarter and hand it to the child. The child accepts it and hands the somewhat wilted rose to me. He then turns around and walks away.

"Hey, wait." I called to him, but he continued walking. He seem to ignore me again.

"Wait!" I chase up to him.
The child walks around a corner, vanishing from sight briefly. I turned around the corner.

Huh? Where is the child..?
I walk deeper, looking for the child but to no avail. Somehow, he vanished. Did he do parkour? Impossible, a boy that size? And his strength? Simply not a choice for him. He could be hiding somewhere. And if he did, he is probably running away now, in search of more customers to sell roses to.

Speaking of roses..
I lifted my hand and examined the black rose. Wait. When did the petals black? Last I saw, it was red. At least it is, it was red before I bought it. It also emitted a weird horrid stench. I pulled my face away and toss the rose to the ground and walk away.

As I get back to the bustling village center, the sun is already setting. I'll find that child tommorow, he might know something. I head to the inn...

....

....

I wake up.
The room is dark and the moonlight shines down at my face. It's peace and quiet. Yet, I woke up. Why did I wake up? I sat up and look around.

I swear I felt someone in this room with me.

The room is pretty small, just enough for one night. It's just a bed, a small table, a small closet and.. that's it. Also, there's a painting on the wall on the wall opposing where I sleep.

Actually..
There was no painting on the wall. I only saw it now.
But not before.

..What.. the..
I could hear the wolves howling in the distance.

...aaaaauuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu.....
I'm safe and secure in this room but I just get this feeling I'm very vulnerable to.. something. I'm still sitting up on my bed, thinking on whatever I was suppose to think. Nevermind that now. It's time to sleep.

I lie back down on my pillow and shut my eyelids, embracing the warmth of sleeping. It's unusually uncomfortable here than at my home. I want to finish this case and go home. I have a family to attend to. How are they doing at home? Please wait for me. It'll all be finished soon...

....

*Creak*
I snap my eyes open.
I lift my head slightly just to look ahead of me.

"....."
The painting.. is gone..
Replaced by the head of a woman with white eyes.

"What is..."
The door creaks open ever so slowly. I dare not to sit up in bed. Something is very wrong here. I close my eyes again, a flash of fear crossing my mind. Are there seriously spirits in this world? No. Impossible. This is just a coincidence. The wind probably blew in from the window.

Hm..
Did I leave the window open?
Should I check?

I open my eyelids and lift my head to look at the window. Yes, it indeed is open. I sat up. Incidentally, I looked ahead of me. The door is mysteriously closed for unknown reasons. The painting is back. At least.. it is a painting. But it's a painting of the woman with white eyes. Her jaws open wide, resembling a scream of fear.

I try to ignore that and approach the window. It's a bit high but I reached it and shut it neatly. Just then, something fell from probably the window sill. I crouch to pick up the item.

It resembles a black rose.
It's somewhat familiar. I think I..

"The rose, sir."
I lift my head and a child stands before me. The same child from the day. He appeared more frightening that ever with white eyes. My eyes widen in fear and I felt my chest tightening.

...What.. the.. hell..
Suddenly, I felt excrutiating pain surging from my chest. Or rather, from my heart. It felt like being pulled from its origin. It's weird, unusual, and extremely painful. My mind becomes twisted in pain and I lie down on the floor, unable to make a voice. I press my hands on my heart, struggling to fight back the pain.

Just then, flashes of my family appear before my eyes. My lovely wife, my great son. All lost... Why?

"You should never have came.. detective.."

|==|==|==|==|I probably rushed the ending a bit too fast..
Man.. That's sad.
I need to work on more of my overall writing skills. Please leave replies!
I kindly appreciate them! Thanks!
