A lot of people don't think about how their words effect others. When you say or assume someone is/isn't sThe Respect Projectomething, you are labeling them what you want them to be/think they are, and they probably don't agree. If some tells you who/what they are, accept them and move on, don't tell them they are wrong. They WILL question themselves and they WILL be upset. You can't even joke about these things, because its NOT okay.

Too many people have assumed that I'm straight. They say "You like him,' or "He's your boyfriend!" but maybe I don't like guys. Anyways my point still stands, don't ever assume you know what someone is. Someone can be trans, bi, asexual, pan, ect. they can be many other things aswell, like emo, scene, gothic, and preppy. A single person can identify as so many things, and that never gives you the right to judge someone. And never tell someone that they can't know who they are because of their age, for young teens, it important to be accepted. identities are timeless. You will always be the same person, no matter what you identify as and people need to accept that.

If you agree with me, then show your support by favoriting this article and sharing it with everyone you know. Post it on every social media you have with the hashtag #RespectProject. Let's show world that we will not stand for disrespect. It doesn't matter about the color of your skin, it doesn't matter what sexuality you are, or the gender yo identify as, you deserve respect.

While do agree everyone deserves their choices to be respected (and not only, as we tend to forget nowadays about the skin color based discrimination or other things you are actually born with), I think the idea of never saying to someone you don't know that he/she likes someone of the opposite gender (that is, presuming he is hetero), is a bit senseless. I do even have a gay friend and we even used to play when we were kids together. Only recently did I find out about his orientation, and he said he never felt bad for others asking him if he's hooked up with some girl. he said that actually made him feel more normal and natural.
Also, I think there's just too much fuss made on this theme. Really. All the gay parades and stuff, it just ain't gonna help them. And it's a bit unfair. Just think about it... You go on a parade, feeling "proud" of who you are. I don't consider being gay bad or good, I just consider it a simple choice everyone can make, and choosing one thing rather than the other shouldn't be considered a reason to be proud. If it was, then hetero parades should also be a thing :p

Now for reals, I do agree that everyone is equal and tolerating all those different from you is a virtue, but I just think too much has already been done on this matter. Hope this will help!

Imagine that you're talking to someone who doesn't know about your sexuality or gender. Then I don't think it's worth getting upset by the person believing you being someone you aren't. The person couldn't possibly know and it's human to assume.

Though it would be rude if they knew about your sexuality or gender and still would say you were something else.

I agree that everybody deserves respect.

i know that happens sometimes, but when someone assumes something about me or anyone else and I know their wrong, I just correct them and move on. I know people who do get upset but don't correct others though, and (I should've included it) I tell them that they should start to correct people. Thank you for correcting me there though, I really appreciate feedback.
