Hello guys! For my first post I will be describing in detail a mod idea which I've been working on. The mod is called The Rot Mod.
The only problem is I don't know how to make mods. So I'm gonna post all of my details about it and hope some mod maker views this and makes it. Enjoy!
Rotting
All things which you eat to restore hunger are affected by rot. Each item has a different rot speed and when they reach the end of their "rot timer" they dissolve and dissapear. Here are the different items and their rot speed.

The progress will be shown in a bar similar to the durability bar. It will have a slowly growing red/black rot bar.

When an item's rot bar is completely consumed the item is deleted and replaced with an item titled rot.
OOO
Rot has only one property, it attracts zombies. It doesn't matter if its in a chest or in your hand. They can smell it, and will come towards it. They do not actually want the meat but are just attracted to the area. You can easily use this to make fun zombie traps!
Items
You will also be able to craft certain new blocks and items. Many of which can be used as great decoration for the house.
Mini Fridge
Ingredients
6 iron ingots Iron | iron | iron
2 redstone iron | dai. | iron
1 diamond red. | iron | red.
One block high. When right clicked will open similar to a chest. Will add a 2 day rot delay when food is placed inside it. Contains 27 slots. does not take bread or cookies.
Freezer
Ingredients
5 iron ingots iron | iron | iron
2 redstone iron | Ice. | iron
1 diamond red. | dai. | red.
1 ice block
One block high. When right clicked will open like the Mini Fridge. will add a 7 day rot delay when food is placed in it. Contains 18 slots. Does not take bread or cookies. You can place in a bucket of water and it will turn into a block of ice and an empty bucket in 1 day.
Refrigerator
Ingredients
1 freezer | Freezer |
1 mini fridge |M. Fridge|
Made by placing a freezer block above a mini fridge. This will combine, similar to two chests, to form a refrigerator. This fridge will be two blocks high and has 54 slots. All food, save bread & cookies, will have infinite days added to the food and will never rot while inside. When the food is taken out the rot will resume where it left off. The refrigerator can turn water into ice same as the freezer.
Cooler
Ingredients
8 iron ingots iron | iron | iron
1 red dye iron | red | iron
iron | iron | iron
Is as tall as a cake and can be carried in your left hand by left clicking it and placed other places without needing to destroy it by right clicking where you want it placed. You can be holding and using a sword and a cooler at the same time since it's one in each hand. This does impair movement a bit by not letting you sprint.
The cooler functions by consuming "cool fuel" to keep items cold. The different fuels give different amounts of added days. Here's the list.
1. Snowball- 1/4 day
2. Snow Block- 1 1/2 days
3. Ice- 3 days
By right clicking the cooler you open an interface similar to that of the furnace.
OOO
The cooler has 18 slots for food items and 1 slot for fuel. Once the fuel has been used up the fuel will disappear. The items will resume the rot process until more cool fuel is added.
A fun thing about the cooler is that you can change the color by putting the cooler and any dye into a crafting table.
Pantry

The pantry is a table in appearance and has 18 slots inside. The pantry adds 4 days to bread & cookies. Could easily be used as a cool decoration.
Reheating
So you're in your house and you have no cooling blocks and your last steak is about to rot away. You can save it by putting it back in a furnace and cooking it a second time. It will come out a darker meat with a new set of grill marks.
When you do this it will remove all of the rot and reset the bar. The down side is it takes twice as long to cook as a normal steak would and it will restore one less hunger. You can only reheat a piece of meat once. If you try a second time it will use your fuel but it will turn your meat into ash.

Ash can be used to fertilize soil like bone meal does. You can then craft bone meal and ash together to make a very powerful growth booster called fertilizer.
