Second blog post, first with this idea. Tell me if you like it! Remember, the main character is a Dragon.
If you guys like this, I'll post a second... and a third... and more.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------

First, there was chaos...

Now, there is fire...

But it will only take a single drop of water, to extinguish it.

Arin opened his eyes. What was he thinking about? Nevermind that, there was a faint knocking on the cave entrance. Then he realized that we was supposed to be in the center at quarter passing. It was already almost to it. He would be late to the meeting if he didn't hurry his morning routine.

"Arin, it's almost quarter passing. Wake up, you lazy worm!" an excited voice chirped from outside. It sounded like Shaira. She was always excited for everything. It annoyed the heck out of Arin.

"Go away, Shaira. And I told you not to call me that!" Arin growled.

Footsteps echoed away. Good. She was gone. An itching sensatation came from Arin's tail. He avoided scratching it. Darned scale mites. He thoroughly washed in the cave spring, and the itching stopped. Arin never knew why the scale mites always liked to infest his tail.

Arin looked up through the cave's skylight. By Brimstone, it was already quarter passing. He was already late, and would have to hurry if he was going to not be even later. He spread his wings, and flew out of the caves. Normally, Arin enjoyed watching the dense jungle. Today, all that occupied his mind was the meeting. When he landed at the center, Arin heard heated discussion. They had already started the meeting. Perhaps, if he was quiet enough, the others would not notice him enter. But Elder always had exceptional hearing. Arin would probably be caught by him. Arin wasn't dissapointed. As soon as Arin entered the cavern, Elder spoke.

"You're late, Arin" Elder spoke in his gravely voice. "Why may this be?"

"Elder, I, err, overslept" Arin replied, knowing that he would embarrass himself.

The dragons of the center made hiccupy sounds, what passed for dragon laughter.

Serdok, the daughter of Elder, said "Well, now that he is here, our cheif scout can tell us what he has found." Arin always liked Serdok, and was grateful for her not laughing at him aswell.

"There has been smoke coming from the highlands" Arin reported. "An obvious sign of dragon activity. The highland dragons are obviously coming here, for a fight, or diplomacy, I am not sure."

The cavern erupted into hushed whispers. The highlanders were coming. What did that mean? They were much stronger in numbers than the dragons here.

"Enough!" Elder said, quieting down the cavern. "We all want information, and as the chief scout, I think Arin should find that information for us." All heads in the cavern turned on Arin. "I already have a plan set out." Elder said slowly.

Fear tugged at Arin's gut. Elder had never like him, nor his friendship with Serdok. He was pretty sure what the Elder had planned was going to get him killed.
