Welcome to this "Tips on"
Today we will be learning some valuable tips on creating a minecraft map.
This time I tips for each kind of map that i have tips on.

Survival map
Adventure map
CTM
Minecraft PvP map

Category nr.1 : Survival map

Tip nr.1 : Theme and scenery

It is very important for any kind of map to have its own theme and scenery.
When trying to come up with a good theme you must remember that the scenery must fit.
If you choose a post-apocalyptic map you will most likely have a lot of terraforming and
building to do. The skills of terraforming is highly valuable when creating a survival map
because you will most likely use a theme like underground , skylands or zombie-apocalypse city.
Good examples of creativety is the falling meteors collection and skyblock.

Tip Nr.2 : Storyline (optional)

When creating a survival map you dont usually have a storyline but it become a little more common
these days. If you are planning on bringing a storyline into your survival map you
should use the new books in 1.3 or notepad files as story telling assets.
These should not be connected due to the fact that in a survival the player is supposed to roam freely.
There are some ways to connect them without connecting them.
Lets take my survival maps for example : I scattered memories all of the place and used them to tell what had happend at that location. The player of the map has amnesia and he remember just a little bit when he comes to the place and that tells a little bit of what happend to the player planet/home.

Tip Nr.3 : Challenges

Most survival maps has challenges to spice up the gameplay a little bit.
In most survival maps you will find challenges such as "Obtain a full set of diamond armor" and "Craft 64 bread".
Try to be as creative as possible when creating challenges because minecrafters dont want the same thing over and over and over again. You should not make the challenges to easy but neither to hard to complete.

Category Nr.2 : Adventure maps

Tip Nr.1 : Theme and scenery

When creating a theme for an adventure map you must try to be a little more creative than when creating a survival map because you must always have a storyline that fits in.
Creating a theme for an good adventure map can be hard to do because most has already been done
and most people will therefor hate on you copying and some will still like the map if you did it right.
The scenery is also a bit tricky to create. You will most likely need good architecture and a couple of friends who can help because adventure maps need to be big to make hours of fun and not just 30 minutes.

Tip Nr.2 : Storyline

When creating a storyline for an adventure map you must always remember to have good grammar and
tell what happend and what the player is supposed to do.
When creating a storyline for a map you should read a couple of books and find a good storyline as well as theme.
Else than that the storyline building is mostly up to your imagination and how YOU want your adventure map to be.

Tip Nr.3 : Building the scenery

When building the scenery you migth want to add in a couple of features like parkour and puzzles.
This will help extend the time it takes to complete your map from minutes to hours.
Try creating secret passage ways that leads to items. Having some kind of score system also help making the map long because then the player will use more time trying to find this score item. Most people use gold as their score item. Redstone is very valuable when creating a map because then you can add puzzles and those secret passage ways that were previously mentioned in this tip.

Category Nr.3 : CTM (Short term for : Complete the monument)

(We are going to skip Theme and scenery on this one. Click here for some good ideas for Theme and Scenery)

Tip Nr.1 : Difficulty

When creating a CTM map you will most likely want it to be difficult because then more people will challenge their friends to complete it without dieing. There will also be those who spam famous youtubers to do the map and that is just more publicity. All in all , the difficulty is one of the most important things in a CTM map.

Tip Nr.2 : Make it hours of gameplay

Most minecrafters want a map that they can play for a couple of hours without being bored.
Therefor you will need to create maybe up to 2 hours of gameplay together with some good decent scenery.
When trying to make a long and good minecraft map parkour does the trick. Most minecrafters arent the that good at parkour and will therefor fail alot. When they get fustrated they want to make it but the difficulty becomes higher because they arent fully paying attention all the time.

Category Nr.4 : Minecraft PvP map

Note that this category has been going on for a long time but got almost no attention.
When the survival games came out most people forgot the original minecraft PvP map style and
survival games replaced most of it. Survival games is the Hunger games version of this style.

Tip Nr.1 : Scenery

When creating the scenery of a Minecraft PvP map you should always have places to hide and places with many chests. When there is a place with many chests most people will run for it at the start of the round.
That will most likely get many players killed at the start of the round.
Make the map look good by having structures all around the map.
These structures should have lootable chests and be dark so mobs can spawn and possibly kill some players.

Tip Nr.2 : Easter eggs

While looking around most players find easter eggs around the map and frequenly come there to have a laugh or hide (if its in a well hidden spot). These easter eggs are the key to many players because then people will have their friends come in the server where the map is hosted and show them the easter egg while trying to survive.

These tips have been gathered by me.
I am a map creator and most of my friends have helped by gather these tips.
