Bullet Phase Server Reset Map Blog

Hey guys, im about to reset my server's map to the updated minecraft version. Our server map was made back in 1.7.3 Beta. When a map is very outdated and not well explored, there are issues considering biomes.

Most Common Outdated Server Maps Issues.

  1. Biomes clashing together.
This normally happens when a new biome is added to the game and is trying to replace the previously biome already generated there.

  2. A Huge Ocean biome.
Now lets begin by saying obviously the ocean is big to begin with but, when you have an outdated map and if you get clashing of biomes, minecraft by default "fixes" or justifies it by making it into ocean if already was replacing some sort of ocean/water biome.

  3. Changing an biome's weather or grass shading without changing the actual biome.
Now this can occur for many reasons. People believe that it mostly happens because of being an outdated map, minecraft tries to update, however if there are block changes in that biome ( placing blocks or breaking blocks causing changes), minecraft knows it shouldnt update the biome but still executes changes to the weather and grass.

If you have any this issues, then it is possible that your server's map is to outdated and needs to be reset. But how? We have a few suggestions and we will post tutorials later but as of right now we have a list below.

How to Reset Your Server Map

  1. First things first, create a new one and save your old one if you want to keep your creations. If you have a good seed, post them below along with the minecraft version. ( Suggest any mods that create biomes but does add new blocks if you know any )

  2. After creating your new server map, get McEdit here. Why do I need McEdit? If you want to import your creations from your world, use this software to import it.

  3. We will continue this tutorial later tonight or tomorrow along with videos.

Extra Tools on helping maintain and manage your biomes and map terrain.
  1. Voxel Sniper
    (Bukkit Plugin, Download here).

VoxelSniper is a bukkit plugin that allows simple terrain editing with a click of the mouse! I suggest to anyone who wants to edit large parts of land.
  2. World Edit
(Mod(needs Singplayer commands) & Bukkit Plugin, Mod Download here, Bukkit Download here).

World edit is another terrain editing plugin that allows you to do a range of different task. You can change properties of biomes, have selected regions, generate blocks with equations and lots more.

Seeds!
  1. -654556573 (1.3.2)
Jungle biome at spawn with a random pyramid near it.

  2. bestseed (1.3.2)
Spawn in a good mountain biome, near by desert with a normal-sized pyramid. Inside trap and diamonds.
  3. More seeds soon to come!

Dont forget to post your own seeds plugins, and mods that may help on resetting your map!

Good seed for 1.3.2: jetski
Good mountains, desert pyramid, nice overall map. May or may not be a jungle temple...
