For nearly 4 years, Minecraft has been updated with a new art style that takes the original look of the game and revamps it to look fresher and more modern. Despite this, many players want to relive the experience they felt with the old look of the game. Many community members and creators have taken matters into their own hands and given the new additions to the game a breath of old air, the kind that invokes nostalgia, of course. Today I will be ranking a few of those packs that attempt to bring back those old feelings in a list of what I think are the top five. To be fair to the competition, I won't rank my own pack. It is known as Justamedomz's Classic Pack and it is one of the most popular packs to continue the old style of textures. One fellow creator, TimeWarpDrive created this entry on my list:
#5 - Time's Developer Art
This pack was released a couple of days before mine, and I must say it is a good pack. It is very complete and features textures that fit well with the old style. Time Warp Drive puts lots of time and effort into this pack, there are very few textures that are just simple recolors that add noise to the regular texture and I see it updated regularly whenever there is new content added to the game. Overall, it places #5 on the list because some of the textures don't quite fit with minecraft's art style in general and they seem slightly out of place.
The next entry earns its rank with its simplicity, created by AceOcarinas it is none other than:
#4 - Programmer Art Preserved
This pack started out as a simple tweak pack that fixed the inconsistent Nylium texture, but eventually it grew into a preservation of the old textures that blends with the new ones. It appeals most to those who don't want to reject the new minecraft textures but they also don't want to forget the old ones (like mojang did). This pack is great because it doesn't want to force away the new features constantly coming to the game.
next on our list is a pack made by Crackers0106 that many players enjoy using:
#3 - Programmer Art+
This is another simple pack that attempts to blend the styles of old and new minecraft. It is most notable for its frequent updates and improvements that come along with them. It honestly reminds me of my own pack, where it started out with some of the textures that fit in less and gradually improved things to match old minecraft well.
The second place prize on this list aims for a minecraft experience that is not just based on pre-1.14 minecraft, instead it is based on the distant past. This pack is known as:
#2 - Simpler Times
This pack, made by swigly is the first programmer art pack made by someone else that I really liked. It was formerly known as "The OG Minecraft", which was a very fitting name. It invokes tons of nostalgia and fits very well with the old textures. This pack almost makes me ask if I'm playing in the old beta versions.
The final entry on the top five steals the win by a long shot. Made by curseforge user thgabs it's:
#1 - Programmer Art Fix
This is by far the most popular programmer art pack there is. It's the first result you'll find when you google search for programmer art texture packs. with nearly 35,000 downloads it crushes any competition. While this pack is simple, it gives off the same vibes the old textures did in a subtle way. It seems to be the closest we will get to an official update to the old textures. Congrats to thgabs!
Let me know what your favorite classic minecraft texture pack is, and if there are other ones that you think should have made it on the list. I really enjoyed ranking other people's work compared to the source material. I hoped you enjoyed this read and you keep enjoying minecraft. Goodbye!

Im humbled by you putting my pack on the list, so thanks. Though, I'd be interested in which textures you think are out of place..
